RESPONSIBILITIES
The primary focus of this role is to support OGA’s upstream tax accounting and joint venture (JV) accounting activities while also contributing to group consolidation processes.
Key responsibilities include
1. Tax Accounting Support (primary responsibility)
Assist the Tax Manager with:
- Maintaining tax-effect accounting entries and reconciliations
- Annual income tax return inputs
- PRRT working papers and supporting schedules
2. JV Accounting (secondary)
Assist with end-to-end JV accounting processes, including:
- Monthly JV cost allocations and cash call preparation
- Review and posting of JV billing statements and partner billings
- Fixed asset accounting for JV assets (capitalisation, depreciation, disposals)
3. Group Consolidation & Financial Reporting (secondary)
- Assist the Finance Manager in preparing OGA group consolidation journals and reconciliations (including US$ functional-currency entities).
- Assist with preparation of quarterly and annual management reporting packages for Head Office.
- Assist statutory financial statement preparation and audit schedules.
Secondary responsibilities
- Undertake any other duties assigned by the Company from time to time.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS
- 5-7 years or more of practical accounting experience
- Sound understanding of tax effect accounting
- Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, data handling)
- Strong communication skills and ability to coordinate with multiple internal/external stakeholders
- Highly organised, with the ability to prioritise and meet deadlines in a multi-entity reporting environment
PREFERRED SKILLS
- Experience in SAP (especially S/4HANA)
- 2. Experience in oil & gas, resources, or similar joint venture-based business models.
- Familiarity with consolidation systems or multi-currency environments
- Proficiency with Australian taxation legislation, including specific regimes relevant to the mining sector (e.g., PRRT).
