Description
OCU Group is a global infrastructure and energy services business with more than 5,000 people delivering projects that power communities and support the energy transition. Our Australian and New Zealand operations are growing fast, bringing together great businesses including All Energy Contracting (AEC), Bam Bam, Pilecom and Volta under one group.
Pilecom is one of Australia’s leading solar farm installers, with more than a decade’s experience on some of the country’s largest utility-scale projects. From pile testing and GPS-guided piling to drilling, on-site batching and module installation, Pilecom delivers the full foundation and installation package in-house, and also manages solar waste recycling and decommissioning.
About the opportunity
Your first project will be the Fraser Coast Hybrid Solar and BESS Project, near Teebar and Brooweena, about 50 kilometres southwest of Maryborough. Set across 555 hectares, it combines around 600,000 solar panels (330 MW) with a 180 MW / 360 MWh battery energy storage system and a 275 kV grid connection. It’s one of the most significant renewable energy builds in Queensland, and beyond it we have a strong pipeline of work across Queensland and other states.
As our HSE Advisor, you’ll be out in the field every day, the person crews and supervisors turn to for practical safety guidance on a busy, fast-moving site. The role is fully site based, Monday to Saturday, with accommodation provided near site and a ute supplied. We welcome local candidates as well as those based in Brisbane or elsewhere who are happy to drive in, drive out.
What you’ll do
- Partner with site managers, supervisors and crews to plan and deliver piling, drilling, batching and installation work safely.
- Lead site inspections, audits and observations, turning findings into clear, practical actions.
- Review and improve SWMS, JSAs and risk assessments so they reflect how work is actually done.
- Investigate incidents and near misses, identify root causes and drive corrective actions through to close-out.
- Deliver inductions, toolbox talks and safety training that land with frontline teams.
- Monitor environmental controls on site, including waste segregation and recycling, dust, erosion and spill management
- Maintain accurate HSE records and reporting, supporting our management system and client requirements
- Champion a positive safety culture by coaching site leaders and recognising good practice
What you’ll bring to the team
- Certificate IV or Diploma in Work Health and Safety
- Experience in an HSE advisory role on construction, civil, mining, energy or infrastructure sites
- Working knowledge of WHS legislation, high risk construction work and SWMS
- Confidence to communicate with crews and leaders alike, and to challenge unsafe practice constructively
- Current White Card and full Australian driver’s licence
- Happy to work in a field-based role, Monday to Saturday
- It would be great if you’ve worked on solar farm, BESS, piling or heavy plant projects
- Bonus if you have formal incident investigation training such as ICAM
