Position Description 

The Senior DevOps Engineer works with the DevOps & Cloud Engineer Lead and software engineering teams to build, automate and support the cloud infrastructure and DevOps capabilities that underpin the Digital Product portfolio. 

The role is primarily hands-on, with a focus mainly on AWS, Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD and automation. The successful candidate will help implement established platform standards and patterns, support application teams and progressively take ownership of defined areas of the platform. 

Key Responsibilities 

• Build, configure and maintain AWS infrastructure supporting applications and services. 
• Implement Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, following established platform patterns and standards. 
• Build and maintain AWS amplify pipelines across Dev, UAT and Production environments, supporting application onboarding, infrastructure deployment and CI/CD processes. 
• Automate infrastructure and operational processes using PowerShell, Bash, Python and other appropriate tooling. 
• Support the deployment and operation of applications and supporting AWS services. 
• Monitor, troubleshoot and resolve cloud infrastructure, deployment and pipeline issues. 
• Identify opportunities to improve automation, reliability, security and operational efficiency. 
• Contribute to technical standards, documentation and reusable tooling, staying current on emerging technologies and actively sharing knowledge across the team. 
• Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams including software developers, testers, architects, security, enterprise platform teams and project managers. 

Essential Qualifications / Experience 

• Computer Science, Information Technology or related degree, or equivalent practical experience. 
• Hands-on experience with AWS is required and experience with other cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure is advantageous. 
• Experience with Git/Bitbucket and CI/CD concepts. 
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code  with Terraform experience highly desirable. 
• Practical scripting or automation experience using PowerShell, Bash, Python or a similar language. 
• Understanding of cloud infrastructure concepts including networking, identity, access management and security. 
• Experience with, or understanding of, deploying and supporting applications in a cloud environment. 
• Experience with AWS Amplify, DynamoDB, Lambda, API gateway, Cloudformation, WAF,   IAM, Jenkins would be highly desirable. 
• Experience with AI-assisted development tools (e.g. GitHub Copilot, Claude) and familiarity with integrating LLM APIs into workflows 
• Understanding of software development practices including source control, pull requests and code review. 
• Good communication skills – written and verbal. 
• Demonstrated problem-solving and troubleshooting skills. 
• Takes ownership of assigned work and follows tasks through to completion. 
• The ability to occasionally work outside normal business hours, including weekends.
