About the Opportunity

With the continued growth of our imaging services, we are seeking an experienced and motivated Sonographer to take on the role of Modality Lead – Sonography.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Sonographer looking to take on additional clinical leadership responsibilities and play an important role in maintaining and developing the quality, consistency and technical standards of our sonography services.

As Modality Lead, you will work closely with our sonography team, radiologists and operational leadership to support clinical practice, equipment performance, quality assurance, training and professional development across the modality.

The role can be offered on a full-time basis or part-time at 4 days per week, with dedicated administration time provided to undertake the additional modality responsibilities alongside your clinical workload.

Responsibilities include:

• Develop and maintain sonography protocols, SOPs and clinical standards in line with best practice and organisational requirements.
• Provide clinical and technical support to sonography staff, ensuring consistent examination techniques, image quality and standards of care.
• Oversee ultrasound equipment performance, maintenance, QA, calibration, repairs and upgrades, including liaison with vendors and service technicians.
• Coordinate onboarding, training, supervision and professional development of sonography staff and students.
• Monitor compliance with ASAR standards, accreditation requirements and relevant legislation, including quality audits and documentation.
• Maintain QA, equipment, incident and compliance records and contribute to incident reviews and continuous quality improvement initiatives.
• Liaise with radiologists regarding clinical protocols, image quality and examination standards.
• Support roster coordination, clinical meetings, accreditation activities and working groups as required.
• Provide clinical and technical input into equipment procurement, budgeting, technology upgrades and broader service planning.

About You

• Accredited postgraduate qualification in Medical Ultrasound
• Current ASAR registration
• Demonstrated experience across a broad range of ultrasound examinations
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail
• Strong knowledge of ultrasound equipment and software
• Sound understanding of quality assurance and accreditation requirements
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to provide clinical guidance and support to colleagues
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
• Commitment to continuous learning, professional development and high-quality patient care

Previous experience in a senior clinical, modality lead or coordinator role would be highly regarded, as would experience with protocol development, clinical procedure review, RIS/PACS systems, accreditation processes or quality improvement initiatives.
