Location: Gippsland VIC (Traralgon, Morwell,Warragul, Sale, South Gippsland) Employment Type: Casual Pay: Hourly rate based on qualifications and experience, aligned with the SCHADS Award + applicable penalty rates (Sat 150%, Sun 200%, PH 250%)

We are expanding across Gippsland and are seeking high-calibre Complex Support Workers who can confidently support participants with complex behaviours, dual diagnoses, trauma histories, and forensic backgrounds.

This is not a standard support worker role.

You must be:

  • Calm under pressure
  • Emotionally resilient
  • Strong in trauma-informed practice
  • Able to manage high-intensity situations professionally

About the Role

You will support participants with:

  • Complex behaviours and crisis responses
  • Mental health + disability (dual diagnosis)
  • Trauma backgrounds
  • Justice/forensic involvement

Your role is to enable, not just do — helping participants build independence, stability, and confidence.

What a Typical Day Looks Like

  • Review support plans and Behaviour Support Plans (BSPs)
  • Implement behaviour strategies and structured routines
  • Provide personal care and daily living support
  • Respond to behavioural incidents using de-escalation techniques
  • Transport participants to appointments and activities
  • Support community engagement and independence
  • Administer medication as per plans
  • Complete detailed case notes and incident reports
  • Participate in team handovers and debriefs

Key Responsibilities

Direct Support (80%)

  • Deliver person-centred support aligned with NDIS plans
  • Implement Behaviour Support Plans (BSPs) consistently
  • Manage behaviours using trauma-informed approaches
  • Support participants with complex mental health needs
  • Assist with daily living (meals, hygiene, routines)
  • Support justice-involved participants with reintegration
  • Maintain safe, structured environments

Documentation & Collaboration (20%)

  • Complete case notes after every shift
  • Submit incident reports within required timeframes
  • Participate in team meetings and debriefs
  • Work with clinicians, coordinators, and families
  • Follow all compliance and reporting standards

What We’re Looking For

✅ Essential

  • Certificate III or IV in Disability / Individual Support / Mental Health
  • NDIS Worker Screening Check
  • Working With Children Check (VIC)
  • First Aid & CPR
  • Driver’s licence + reliable vehicle
  • Experience supporting complex behaviours or mental health
  • Strong understanding of trauma-informed practice
  • Ability to stay calm in crisis situations
  • Emotional resilience and professionalism
  • Commitment to ongoing roster consistency

🌟 Desirable

  • Certificate IV in Mental Health
  • Experience in SIL environments
  • Experience with Behaviour Support Plans (BSPs)
  • Experience supporting forensic/justice participants
  • Knowledge of restrictive practices & reporting
  • Experience with ShiftCare or similar systems
  • Lived experience (valued)
