Summary:

The CDU Security Officer / Crowd Controller plays a vital role in ensuring the safety and security of students, staff, and visitors within CDU’s educational environments across the 4 Darwin Campuses. These positions are essential for maintaining a secure atmosphere conducive to learning and development, while also managing crowd control during events and activities. The successful candidates will contribute to the institution’s overall safety strategy, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and policies.

Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and patrol the campus to ensure the safety and security of all individuals on site.
  • Manage crowd control during events to ensure a safe and orderly environment.
  • Respond to incidents and emergencies, providing first aid and assistance as required.
  • Conduct regular security checks and report any suspicious activities or breaches.
  • Collaborate with local law enforcement and emergency services when necessary.
  • Maintain accurate records of incidents and prepare reports as required.
  • Provide excellent customer service to students, staff, and visitors, addressing their concerns and inquiries.
  • Participate in training and development programs to enhance security skills and knowledge.

Qualifications:

  • A valid security licence in accordance with Northern Territory regulations.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and independently.
  • Basic first aid certification is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle stressful situations calmly and effectively.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
  • Previous experience in a security or crowd-control role is essential.
