About the Role:
Based at our Burleigh Clearpro branch or our Meadowbrook NPE branch. The Water Treatment Technician supports water management projects from planning through to completion. You will be an intermediate to experienced Water Treatment Technician, working on water management projects. Your knowledge of water treatment best practice processes will allow you to complete works as per the ISO and AS/NZS standards and requirements. Works incorporate the operation, maintenance, monitoring, and adjustment projects including associated equipment and scope of works in order to ensure compliance with State, Federal and local laws, regulations and policies.
The successful employee must demonstrate an understanding of water/wastewater treatment processes, knowledge and skills gained through applicable qualifications or trades such as, chemical, water, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation and or laboratory work in order to perform assigned tasks.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Working on-site, carrying out testing to determine water quality, and adjusting chemical dosing levels via digital controllers as required
- Maintain treatment process records and operating data.
- Working on site to maintain water treatment equipment and system components, conduct functional testing and maintenance of dosing pumps and other mechanical parts within the plant to ensure operational efficiency.
- Support the installation, commissioning, decommissioning and demobilization of mobile chemical dosing equipment used on temporary water treatment plants
- Interpreting and recording chemical ranges from a controller and adjusting as required, as well as identifying underlying causes of faults when they occur
- Review project specifications to ensure they meet company design and comply with our customer needs
- Identify safety and operations risks or hazards and provide recommendations and solutions to the team
- Understanding of site based and statutory requirements and ensure projects comply with policy, legislation, guidelines and licensing requirements.
- Collaborate with the relevant Sales and Operation teams to establish quality solutions for our customers
Skills and Experience
Essential
- Current C-Class Drivers License
- Relevant water industry operations experience or Tertiary Qualification in Engineering, mechanical, chemical, or environmental or related field.
- Demonstrated knowledge of water/wastewater treatment processes
- Mechanical-minded and good with technology and Electrical/control system aptitude
- Comfortable with heights and climbing ladders
- Possess a strong chemical knowledge i.e., water chemistry, water treatment related chemicals, handling procedures, strength of materials
- Love being outdoors and working with your hands
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Excellent time management and an ability to juggle multiple competing priorities
- Ability to work well with other team members and champion the NPE brand
- Self-motivated with the ability to work with minimal supervision.
Desirable
- Experience in the Rental, Mining, Construction or Heavy industries would be advantageous
- Prior use of water quality instruments (YSI), low flow sampling (peristaltic and/or bladder pumps)
- Bachelor of Science/Environmental Science (or similar)
- Have experience with the design of water treatment equipment involving ion exchange, adsorption, filtration, cooling systems, and automated control systems.
- Possess strong technical writing skills.
- Awareness and understanding of current environmental issues and legislative requirements to maintain compliance with State, Federal and local laws, regulations and policies.
- Hydraulic knowledge
- Experience with commissioning and optimization of water treatment plants
