Summary:

The Community Engagement Manager leads the design, delivery, and evaluation of culturally safe, trauma-informed, and community-led engagement strategies for the Aboriginal Social and Emotional Wellbeing Centre (ASEWBC). Grounded in the Social and Emotional Wellbeing (SEWB) Framework, this role ensures the voices of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples — particularly those with lived experience — are embedded across all aspects of service development, delivery, and evaluation. Working in partnership with Elders, families, community organisations, and consortium partners, the Community Engagement Manager strengthens cultural connection, promotes mental health and social and emotional wellbeing literacy, reduces stigma, and ensures the Centre remains visible, accessible, and community-led. The role plays a key leadership function in embedding Aboriginal ways of knowing, being, and doing across engagement, communications, and co-design processes, contributing to a culturally grounded, strengths-based, and healing-centred service environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and implementation of a comprehensive Community Engagement strategy grounded in culture, equity, and community voice. ·
  • Guide consultation and community input into the Centre’s Model of Care and whole-of-life, whole-of-family approach.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with Elders, families, children, and cultural leaders through ongoing engagement and collaboration.
  • Coordinate community events, campaigns, workshops, and initiatives that strengthen cultural connection and mental health literacy.
  • Work in partnership with creative and communications providers to develop branding, messaging, and promotional materials.
  • Ensure all communications and engagement activities are culturally safe, strengths-based, and stigma-reducing.
  • Champion lived experience leadership and participation across service design, delivery, and evaluation.
  • Support the establishment and ongoing engagement of Aboriginal Advisory Groups and community reference structures.
  • Embed Aboriginal ways of knowing, being, and doing across all engagement and communications activities.
  • Oversee community-facing communications including social media, campaigns, and promotional materials.
  • Moderate official social media accounts and follow risk management policies (if applicable).
  • Establish systems to monitor, evaluate, and report on engagement outcomes and impact.
  • Contribute to continuous quality improvement and organisational learning processes.
  • Maintain compliance with funding, governance, and reporting requirements.
  • Represent the Centre at community events, forums, and partnerships as required.
  • Managing relationships with Tier 1 Stakeholders through regular meetings.
  • Any other duties consistent with the role as directed.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Community Development, Social Sciences, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in community engagement management or a similar role.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences.
