Territory Assistant | Venue Merchandising Services NZ | Full-time | Wellington based
The role
As Territory Assistant at VMS New Zealand (part of the Mushroom Group), you’ll largely operate independently, owning the end-to-end running of merchandise sales at shows across New Zealand, with the Territory Manager available for support and direction.
For all Wellington shows, you’ll be the lead: supervising staff, building rosters, preparing floats, coordinating stock, reconciling paperwork and stepping in as venue representative when needed.
This is a niche role and could be particularly well-suited to someone coming from retail, FMCG, hospitality, or logistics/inventory management who’s ready to bring their operational skills into the live entertainment world.
What you’ll be doing
- Organising staff and preparing rosters for Wellington shows, with support across non-Wellington shows as required – TRAVEL IS REQUIRED FOR THIS ROLE.
- Acting as venue representative or seller at shows when directed.
- Verifying count in and count out figures and ensuring all stock movements are accounted for.
- Settling all show paperwork with venues and merchandise companies in a timely manner.
- Managing banking and ensuring all documentation reaches accounts promptly.
- Coordinating stock pick-up and delivery with logistics partners.
- Equipping all selling staff with what they need – floats, eftpos, sales sheets, comp lists.
- Supporting the Territory Manager in resourcing and executing major stadium events.
What we’re looking for
- Experience in a similar operational role – retail, FMCG, hospitality, logistics or inventory management all translate well.
- Leadership experience, with the ability to manage, roster, and develop a small team.
- Proven ability to work autonomously and make sound decisions under pressure.
- Strong financial literacy – accurate cash handling, banking, and reporting.
- High attention to detail and excellent organisational skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Outlook and Excel.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and meet tight, non-negotiable deadlines.

Live events don’t happen nine to five. This role requires regular evening and weekend work, as well as travel between cities for shows. If you thrive on the buzz of show nights and the satisfaction of a clean settle at the end of one, you’ll fit right in.
