About the role

 

Mosaic Multicultural Connections is seeking an experienced Finance and Payroll Lead to join our Support Services team.

 

This is a hands-on role combining accounting, payroll, financial reporting, and compliance with day-to-day oversight of our Finance Officer.

 

Working 30.4 hours across four days per week, you will play an important role in ensuring Mosaic’s finance and payroll operations are accurate, timely and well controlled.

 

The position is offered as an initial 6-month fixed-term contract, with the position to be reviewed towards the end of the contract period based on Mosaic’s ongoing organisational and operational requirements.

 

What you’ll be responsible for

 

  • Overseeing day-to-day finance processing and reviewing accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank and credit card reconciliations and general ledger transactions.
  • Preparing journals, balance sheet reconciliations and supporting month-end and year-end processes.
  • Processing fortnightly payroll and maintaining payroll settings, award rates, classifications, allowances, and entitlements.
  • Supporting compliance with the SCHADS Award and relevant payroll requirements.
  • Preparing monthly management accounts, financial reports, and variance commentary.
  • Supporting budgets, forecasts, and reforecasts.
  • Monitoring statutory obligations including superannuation, BAS and IAS.
  • Maintaining accurate, compliant, and audit-ready financial records.
  • Providing day-to-day supervision, guidance, and quality oversight to the Finance Officer.
  • Identifying discrepancies and emerging financial issues and escalating material or complex matters when required.

 

About you

 

You’ll be an experienced finance professional who enjoys being hands-on, working with the detail and taking ownership of getting things done accurately and on time.

You will bring:

 

  • A degree qualification in Accounting, Finance, Business, or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated experience in a similar accounting or finance role.
  • Experience using Xero and financial processing systems.
  • Payroll processing experience and a strong understanding of payroll compliance.
  • Experience applying the SCHADS Award in payroll or finance administration.
  • Strong reconciliation and financial reporting skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage competing deadlines.
  • Confidence investigating discrepancies and resolving day-to-day finance issues.
  • The ability to provide practical guidance and oversight to a Finance Officer.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and employee management/reporting systems.

 

CPA/CA or working towards qualification, not-for-profit experience and experience using Employment Hero will be highly regarded.
