Communications Focal Point

Are you a great writer, a curious thinker and someone who knows how to turn information into something meaningful?

Mosaic Multicultural Connections is looking for emerging talent to join our team. We are currently recruiting for two casual opportunities – Communications Focal Point and Grants Officer.

You might see yourself in one of these roles. You might see yourself in both.

We are less interested in putting the right person into a narrow box and more interested in understanding what you bring – your strengths, your interests and where you could make the greatest contribution.

What could you bring to Communications?

Maybe you’re the person who can take a page of complicated information and turn it into three paragraphs people actually want to read.

Maybe you love finding the story behind a program, creating content in Canva, writing a great social post, interviewing someone about their experience, or finding a better way to communicate with staff.

You might bring university projects, volunteer experience, a personal portfolio or some professional experience. We’re open to all of it.

What matters to us is that you can write, think, listen and create – and that you’re interested in learning how communications can help a community organisation demonstrate its impact.

What you could be working on

• Internal communications, workforce updates and staff recognition
• Impact stories for donors, funders, partners and community stakeholders
• Program stories, fact sheets and accessible information
• Social media, simple graphics, website updates and email content
• Communication calendars, templates and brand resources
• Turning complex information into clear, engaging and culturally responsive content

What we’re looking for

You don’t need years of professional experience. We’re interested in potential, creativity, judgement and a willingness to learn.

• Strong writing, editing and proofreading skills
• Curiosity and the confidence to ask good questions
• An ability to adapt content for different audiences
• Good organisation and attention to detail
• Confidence with Microsoft 365 and an ability to learn digital tools
• A respectful and culturally responsive approach to communication
• Canva, social media, website content, photography, video or email marketing experience is a bonus – not a requirement

There is a natural connection between great communications and great grant writing. Both require curiosity, strong writing, research, attention to detail, an ability to understand different audiences and a knack for finding the story in the information.

We are advertising the Communications Focal Point and Grant Officer as two separate casual opportunities, but we are open to the right person working across both roles.
