The Role 

Support a long-term NDIS participant in the Newcastle region. This is a high-intensity support role involving hoisting for all transfers and complex personal care needs, including catheter management — so we’re looking for an experienced, confident support worker who can provide this care safely and respectfully.

Join a well-coordinated care team providing a substantial, ongoing roster with a stable, long-term client. You’ll provide a mix of:

  • Hoisting and safe manual handling (Pelican belt/hoist)
  • Catheter care and complex, hands-on personal care
  • Personal care and hygiene support
  • Emotional support and companionship
  • Domestic assistance and community access
  • Following strict guidelines outlined in the care plan

Note: Due to the complex, hands-on nature of this role, experience with catheter care and personal care is essential – client has requested female support workers.

You’ll be great in this role if you are/have

  • Essential: hands-on experience with catheter care and complex personal care
  • Essential: experience using a Pelican belt/hoist for transfers
  • Empathetic, patient and comfortable providing high-intensity, hands-on support
  • NSW Driver Licence and your own insured vehicle
  • Current Checks: NDIS Worker Screening, Working With Children Check, National Police Check, First Aid & CPR
  • Reliable availability across the Newcastle region roster (including some evening and weekend shifts)

Highly regarded

  • Experience supporting clients with complex or high-intensity care needs
  • Confidence with care plans, incident reporting and team communication
