About the role:

We are looking for a reliable and practical Home and Garden Maintenance Worker to join our team.

You will work with older people in their homes across Melville and surrounding suburbs, helping to keep their homes and gardens safe, clean and well maintained.

This role would suit someone who enjoys working with their hands, takes pride in their work and is comfortable working independently. You’ll have the opportunity to build positive relationships with clients while providing practical support that makes a genuine difference to their day-to-day lives.

The role is available Monday to Friday, between 8:00am and 5:00pm.

Key Responsibilities:

• Complete home and garden maintenance tasks in line with each client’s support plan, including:

• Gutter and window cleaning
• Checking smoke alarms
• High cleaning of fans, exhausts, vents and the tops of cupboards and fridges
• Changing light bulbs and tap washers
• Tidying overgrown gardens
• Lawn mowing, whipper snipping and pruning

• Observe and report any changes to the client, home safety or home environment to the coordinator
• Communicate respectfully and professionally with clients, their representatives, colleagues and the wider community
• Participate in staff meetings, planning days and feedback opportunities
• Participate in required training and professional development
• Undertake other reasonable duties as requested by the team leader

Essential Criteria:

• Must have a reliable vehicle with sufficient capacity to safely transport a gutter vacuum and other HGM equipment as required.
• Experience in providing home and garden maintenance or experience in a trade with transferable skills;
• Ability to work both in a team and independently;
• Accurate observation and reporting skills (verbal and written);
• C class Western Australia driver’s license;
• Ability to pass a pre-employment medical;
• National Police Clearance (less than 3 months old);

Desirable Criteria:

Experience in the aged care or community services sector
