We are seeking a Systems Administrator / Cloud Engineer to join Medem Group in a permanent and full-time capacity, based at our Sydney Office in Surry Hills, NSW 2010.

This role is ideal for a systems administrator who enjoys combining Microsoft 365 and cloud administration with hands-on IT support, security, automation and continuous improvement.

Role Purpose

As the Systems Administrator / Cloud Engineer, you will manage and support Medem’s Microsoft 365 environment, core business applications and day-to-day IT requirements for our Australian-based teams.

You’ll also build a working knowledge of our AWS environment, enough to navigate, understand and support routine requirements, while AWS engineering and production ownership remains primarily with our product engineering teams, supported by a dedicated 24/7 managed service.

This is a growth role. You’ll work alongside our Christchurch-based Senior Systems Administrator / Cloud Engineer and report to our CIO, who leads Medem’s information security, risk and governance strategy. Strong Microsoft 365 and systems administration experience is essential, but deep AWS expertise isn’t required from day one, you’ll have the opportunity to build your cloud engineering capability over time.

Key Responsibilities:

• Administer Microsoft 365 services for Australian-based users, including Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, Teams and Intune.
• Configure and maintain security controls across Microsoft Intune, Entra ID, Microsoft Defender and the broader Microsoft 365 environment.
• Provide hands-on administration and support for core business applications, including CRM and Atlassian platforms.
• Provide day-to-day local IT and desktop support for our Surry Hills office, including hardware, networking, meeting room technology and new starter IT setup.
• Maintain a working knowledge of Medem’s AWS environment, supporting routine requests, monitoring and access administration in collaboration with product engineering teams and our AWS managed service provider.
• Procure, configure and deploy infrastructure, hardware, software and licensing required to support the Australian office and Microsoft 365 environment.
• Maintain security control evidence and documentation to support Medem’s CIO-led ISO 27001 programme and broader security and privacy requirements.
• Develop and maintain automation for repeatable Microsoft 365 and application administration tasks using tools such as PowerShell and Power Automate.
• Maintain clear knowledge base articles, technical documentation and IT processes.
• Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, automate processes and optimise technology and licensing costs.
• Work closely with the Christchurch-based Senior Systems Administrator / Cloud Engineer to maintain consistent IT, security, automation and documentation standards across Australia and New Zealand.

About You

You are a hands-on, service-focused IT professional who enjoys solving problems and taking ownership. You are comfortable working across systems administration, security, business applications and office IT support, and can communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

You troubleshoot methodically, take ownership through to resolution or escalation, and are keen to continue developing your cloud and security capability.

Ideally, you’ll bring:

• 2–4 years’ experience in Microsoft 365, systems administration or a similar IT environment.
• Strong Microsoft 365 administration experience across Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams and OneDrive.
• Working familiarity with Entra ID, Intune and Microsoft security and endpoint management tools.
• Working knowledge of AWS services such as EC2, S3, VPC and IAM, with an interest in developing your AWS capability further.
• Experience supporting core business applications such as CRM and Atlassian platforms.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• A solid grounding in cybersecurity practices and ISO 27001 controls.
• Confidence providing hands-on desktop, hardware and office IT support.
• Familiarity with PowerShell or Power Automate.
• Strong communication skills and an organised, accountable approach to your work.
