The Opportunity

We are seeking a talented and motivated Legal Secretary to join our growing national firm within our highly respected Disputes and Insolvency team. This is an excellent opportunity to become part of a dynamic and supportive environment and work alongside experienced legal professionals on a range of matters for some of our largest clients.

This role is best suited to someone seeking to build a long-term career in legal support and administration. It is not designed as a pathway into a law graduate or solicitor position and, as such, would not be suitable for candidates seeking short-term legal experience while studying. Full-time, in-office attendance is required.

The Role

Our ideal candidate will have previous legal secretarial or legal administrative experience. Candidates with strong administrative or secretarial experience gained in a professional services environment will also be considered. Accuracy, attention to detail and professionalism are critical, as you will play an important role in supporting the legal team and ensuring work is completed efficiently and to a high standard.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Drafting various legal documents, including briefs, affidavits and general correspondence.
  • Preparing and issuing client invoices.
  • Drafting costs agreements.
  • Coordinating diaries, meetings and appointments.
  • Managing files, including saving emails and correspondence.
  • Answering and making telephone calls.
  • Liaising with a range of stakeholders, including clients, lawyers and barristers.
  • Opening new matters and conducting conflict searches.
  • Undertaking general administrative and secretarial duties as required.

This role works closely with both legal and administrative teams and offers the opportunity to develop a broad range of skills within a fast-paced professional services environment.

Role Requirements

  • At least 2 years’ experience in a legal secretarial, legal administrative or similar professional support role.
  • High attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Confidence in building lasting relationships with colleagues and clients.
  • Outstanding time management and a strong commitment to consistency
  • A natural inclination for taking initiative.
  • A self-starter but also thrives in a collaborative work environment.
  • Familiarity with NetDocuments and 3E ActionStep would be considered advantageous, although not necessary.
