We are seeking an experienced Manager – Project Development & Approvals to lead the advancement of mining and exploration projects from concept through approvals and into development.
Reporting directly to the Executive Director, this is a rare opportunity to play a key leadership role in shaping the business’s future growth while working across a diverse portfolio of projects across Western Australia.
About the Role
This is a pivotal time to join Macro. We are seeking an experienced Manager –
Project Development & Approvals to play a key role in supporting the next
phase of growth, operating as a trusted member of the senior leadership team.
Reporting directly to the Executive Director, they
will take ownership of the Company’s project development activities across
Western Australia. The position will lead the delivery of environmental, mining,
and government approvals, while managing project schedules, consultants,
stakeholders, tenure, and development programs. The position will identify issues early, solve problems practically, and maintain momentum across multiple concurrent projects.
Key Responsibilities
This role includes, but is not limited to:
- Hold end-to-end accountability for the project across all phases,
including mobilisation, planning, execution, commissioning, handover,
demobilisation and close-out;
- Own and maintain the Project Execution Plan (PEP), ensuring
works are delivered to the approved scope, specifications, drawings and BHP
rehabilitation criteria and standards;
Develop and maintain project budgets, schedules and variations both internally and for project partnerships;
- Lead operational readiness and mobilisation, including resourcing,
plant, permits, inductions and verified readiness to perform before works
commence;
- Lead project close-out, including final claims, demobilisation,
asset reconciliation, lessons learned and contractual completion;
- Prepare, review and manage environmental, traditional owner and
mining approvals;
- Coordinate environmental, heritage, flora, fauna, hydrogeology and
technical studies;
- Contribute to the development of tenure strategies supporting
future project growth;
- Develop productive relationships with – Traditional Owners, Native
Title representative bodies, Government agencies, Pastoralists and landholders,
& Local communities; and
- Manage consultants, contractors and specialist advisers, and prepare
Board papers and Executive reports.
The ideal candidate holds a Tertiary qualification in Environmental Science,
Geology, Project Management, Natural Resource Management, or a related field
discipline. With a minimum of ten (10) years’ experience within the Australian
mining, exploration and resources industry. They will also be able to demonstrate
experience delivering mining or exploration projects throughout the Pilbara,
Goldfields and Kimberley regions. Ideally, they will also have a strong working
knowledge of the Mining Act 1978 (WA), Environmental Protection Act 1986 (WA),
Aboriginal Heritage Act 1972 (WA), Native Title Act 1993 (Cth) and associated
regulatory frameworks, coupled with extensive experience in the development and
management of:
- Environmental approvals;
- Government approvals;
- Mining tenure;
- Stakeholder engagement; and
- Land access.
