Lead the Development of Western Australia’s Next Mining Projects

Macro Metals is an emerging Australian resources company focused on developing mining and exploration opportunities across Western Australia. We are seeking an experienced Manager – Project Development & Approvals to lead the advancement of mining and exploration projects from concept through approvals and into development.

Reporting directly to the Executive Director, this is a rare opportunity to play a key leadership role in shaping the future growth of the business while working across a diverse portfolio of projects throughout Western Australia.

About the Role

As the Manager – Project Development & Approvals, you will take ownership of project development activities and be responsible for coordinating environmental, mining, heritage and government approvals while driving project delivery outcomes.

You will work closely with regulators, consultants, Traditional Owners, Native Title groups and internal stakeholders to ensure projects progress efficiently, responsibly and in accordance with statutory requirements.

This position is primarily based in our West Perth office and will involve regular travel throughout regional Western Australia.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead mining and exploration projects from concept, approvals and development.
  • Develop and implement project development strategies, schedules and budgets.
  • Manage environmental, mining, heritage and government approval processes.
  • Coordinate technical consultants across environmental, flora, fauna, hydrogeology and heritage disciplines.
  • Liaise with State and Commonwealth regulators.
  • Manage the Company’s mining and exploration tenure portfolio.
  • Support land access, Native Title and stakeholder engagement activities.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with Traditional Owners, communities and government agencies.
  • Prepare Board papers, executive reports and project updates.
  • Identify project risks and develop practical mitigation strategies.
  • Support feasibility studies and future project growth initiatives.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

  • A tertiary qualification in Environmental Science, Geology, Project Management, Natural Resource Management or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience within the Australian mining, exploration or resources sector.
  • Demonstrated experience delivering mining or exploration projects throughout Western Australia.
  • Strong knowledge of:
  1. Mining Act 1978 (WA),
  2. Environmental Protection Act 1986 (WA),
  3. Aboriginal Heritage legislation, and
  4. Native Title processes.
  • Experience managing environmental and government approvals.
  • Strong understanding of mining tenure, land access and regulatory compliance.
  • Proven ability to coordinate multidisciplinary technical consultants.
  • Exceptional stakeholder engagement and negotiation skills.
  • Strong commercial, project management and problem-solving capability.
  • Current C Class Driver’s Licence.
  • Unrestricted Australian working rights.

Highly Regarded

  • Iron ore project development experience.
  • Experience across the Pilbara, Kimberley and Goldfields regions.
  • Existing relationships with WA regulatory agencies and industry stakeholders.
  • Postgraduate qualifications in Mining, Environment, Project Management or Business.
