We are seeking a calm, reliable and experienced in emotional wellbeing support needs Disability Support Worker to provide high-quality, person-centred support to a client living in Lanecove.

 

The successful candidate must be confident driving and have their own reliable vehicle, as the role involves transporting the client to appointments, activities and community outings.

 

About the Role

 

As a Disability Support Worker in Lane Cove, you will support a young adult client living with an emotional wellbeing support needs to achieve greater independence, wellbeing, and community participation. This ongoing role involves providing person-centred support both at home and in the community, including personal care, meal preparation, social support, and transport to appointments and activities.

 

Shift Schedule: Monday to Thursday, 11:00am to 3:00pm (4 hours daily)

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Support a client with emotional wellbeing support needs using a calm, supportive, and person-centred approach.
  • Assist with personal care, daily living tasks, and preparing simple vegetarian meals.
  • Provide community participation support including shopping, appointments, community walks, and social outings.
  • Encourage independence, confidence, and social engagement.
  • Build a positive and relatable relationship with the client.
  • Monitor and report changes in wellbeing or support needs.
  • Safely transport the client using your own reliable vehicle.

 

Skills & Experience Required

  • Experience supporting clients with mental health conditions, psychosocial disabilities, or behavioural support needs.
  • Strong communication, relationship-building, and active listening skills.
  • Ability to work independently, use initiative, and maintain professional boundaries.
  • Calm, patient, reliable, and compassionate approach.
  • Comfortable supporting a young adult client and encouraging social connection and independence.
  • Confident driving clients to appointments, activities, and community outings.

 

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Certificate III in Individual or Disability Support ( or related field)
  • Assisting with community access, transport, and social participation
  • NDIS Worker Check ( or willing to have ) 
  • Valid NSW Driver Licence.
  • Access to a reliable vehicle.
