Description

Senior Commercial Litigation Lawyer (6–10 PQE) | Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane or Perth | Flexible and Hybrid

No timesheets. No individual targets. Real Ownership from day one.

You will join our growing national Disputes + Litigation team, working directly with a Team Lead and the Head of Disputes + Litigation. You’ll run a varied and high volume caseload end-to-end, including your own court appearances, spanning finance guarantor disputes, insolvency, financier disputes and recoveries, and general asset recovery clients.

The role

Your work will include:

  • Financier disputes and recoveries, from demand through to judgment and enforcement, including repossession and sale, recovery of pooled assets and mortgagee recoveries
  • Finance guarantor disputes, including challenges to guarantees and securities
  • Creditor-side insolvency matters, such as statutory demands, winding up applications and bankruptcy notices
  • Advice on PPSR registrations and priority disputes, and on National Credit Code default and hardship requirements
  • Building your own client relationships as a trusted adviser
  • Contributing to client acquisition and retention for the team
  • Mentoring and supporting other team members

What you’ll bring

Essential

  • 6–10 PQE in commercial litigation, ideally with a strong debt, recovery or enforcement component
  • Confidence running your own file load and appearances, including in state and federal courts, with minimal supervision
  • Sharp commercial judgement, including a clear-eyed view of recovery prospects and the cost of recovery against the value of the claim
  • Comfort with technology and enthusiasm for new tools, including AI

Desirable

  • Experience acting for financiers, lenders or asset finance and pooling clients
  • Creditor-side insolvency experience (statutory demands, winding up applications, bankruptcy notices) and guarantor disputes
  • Working knowledge of the PPSA, the National Credit Code and the law of guarantees and securities

Haven’t acted for financiers before? If you’re a strong commercial litigator with the appetite to build expertise in this space, we’d still like to hear from you.
