Senior Financial Planning and Analysis Manager

Melbourne, Victoria 3000, Australia • Full-time

Role Type

Permanent • Full-time • Mid-level Senior

Description

Welcome to HotDoc.

Founded in Melbourne, Australia in 2012, HotDoc is Australia’s largest patient engagement platform, with over 8 million app downloads in Australia.

The past 18 months have seen significant growth for our business, our team and our community. We now work with over 24,000 practitioners around Australia, including GPs, Allied Health, Dental Practices, Specialists and Optometrists.

We have ambitious goals to improve the healthcare experience for everyone in Australia through exceptional patient journeys, and we’re looking for extraordinary people to help us get there.

Why Join HotDoc?

Join a purpose-driven team where your work directly affects practices and patients across Australia. As our Senior Financial Planning & Analysis Manager, you’ll sit at the centre of how HotDoc plans, decides and invests.

  • Genuine breadth. This is FP&A, data analytics, commercial partnering and M&A diligence in one seat. No two days look the same, and the role carries a clear pathway to Commercial Director, VP Finance or CFO as HotDoc grows.
  • Proximity to the decisions. You’ll work directly with the CFO, the CEO, the leadership team, the Board and our investors — not three layers away from them.
  • A real mandate to build with AI. We’re not looking for someone who uses AI tools. We’re looking for someone who will design the workflows, agents and automations that let a lean finance function operate far above its weight.
  • Autonomy with support. You’ll own the models, the tools and the cadence, with a leader and a team behind you.
  • Impactful work. Every day you’ll see how your work contributes to better healthcare outcomes for Australians.

What Will You Be Doing?

  • Own the planning cycle end to end. Lead budgeting, forecasting and reforecasting in partnership with the CFO, CEO and business unit leaders, and build the 3-statement models, rolling forecasts and scenario analyses behind them.
  • Own financial reporting and Board materials. Weekly and monthly management reporting that drives action rather than just informs, plus Board papers and investor materials you present yourself.
  • Build the analytical toolkit. Curate the dashboards, unit economics trackers and cohort models leaders use daily — accurate, intuitive, and maintained without manual effort.
  • Partner on the decisions that matter. Market sizing, business cases, incentive plan design, contract evaluation and efficiency initiatives — bringing recommendations, not just analysis.
  • Lead M&A and partnership diligence. Build acquisition models, size opportunities, stress-test assumptions, and give the CFO and Board a rigorous view of value, risk and execution.
  • Design AI-augmented workflows. LLM-powered variance commentary, automated reporting pipelines, agentic tools for data extraction and model refresh — with judgement about where AI belongs and where human oversight is non-negotiable.

What You Must Have to Apply for This Role

  • 5+ years of relevant experience in FP&A, corporate finance, investment banking, private equity, venture capital, strategy consulting or a high-growth analytics environment, with a track record of commercially meaningful outcomes.
  • Expert financial modelling. You build and interpret 3-statement models, rolling forecasts and scenario analyses from scratch, and your models are accurate, well-structured and designed for reuse.
  • Proven FP&A ownership. You have led or co-led a full annual planning and budgeting cycle, and owned monthly management reporting including variance analysis and commentary.
  • Strong analytical capability. You’re comfortable manipulating large, complex datasets and translating them into clear insight with a view on what to do next.
  • Exceptional communication. You present complex financial concepts clearly and confidently to senior stakeholders including Board members and investors.
  • Genuine AI proficiency. You actively use LLMs and agentic tools to automate and improve FP&A workflows — you’ve built things that deliver measurable efficiency, not just experimented.

Highly Valued (Not Required)

  • B2B SaaS unit economics — ARR, NRR, CAC, LTV, churn cohorts and customer cubes; healthcare or B2C marketplace models a strong plus.
  • M&A and strategic finance: acquisition modelling, commercial due diligence or fundraising in a tech or growth-stage environment.
  • Board and investor relations: preparing Board papers and presenting financial performance and scenarios to a Board or investment audience.
  • Hands-on with Metabase, Xero, Hubspot or equivalent — you can interrogate data sources directly without relying on engineering support.
  • A consulting mindset: seen as a commercial thought partner rather than a reporting function.

You’re Just the Person We’re Looking For If You Can Demonstrate That

  • You’re a socially conscious person who wants a role that positively affects the Australian healthcare patient experience.
  • You’re empathetic and care about doing right by others.
  • You take ownership of problems and of their solutions.
  • You’re prepared to speak up and question the status quo, constructively.
  • You have deep curiosity about the ‘so what’ behind the numbers.
  • You’re passionate about technology, health IT and SaaS, and genuinely interested in what AI makes possible in a finance function.
