About the role

This is a role for an experienced corporate or commercial lawyer who wants breadth and variety. Working closely with Partners on complex, high-profile transactions, you’ll take increasing ownership of matters across M&A, equity capital markets and corporate advisory, while acting as a go-to for junior practitioners in the team. You’ll run your own files, lead junior practitioners within larger deals, and play a genuine role in the growth of the practice.

As an Associate in our team, you can expect to regularly:

  • Support and advise on equity capital markets transactions, including IPOs and secondary raisings
  • Advise on mergers, acquisitions and takeovers, leading due diligence workstreams and preparing and negotiating transaction documents
  • Assist listed companies with corporate and regulatory matters, including general meetings, ASX and ASIC liaison, and Listing Rule compliance including continuous disclosure
  • Advise on corporate governance for listed, unlisted and private companies
  • Mentor and support junior practitioners in the team

About you

You’re an experienced corporate lawyer with a strong foundation in M&A, looking to deepen your deal experience and build your profile working with leading ASX listed companies.

To succeed in this role, you’ll demonstrate:

  • Approximately 4–5 years’ post-admission experience in corporate and commercial law, with meaningful M&A experience across the full transaction lifecycle, from due diligence and structuring through to documentation, signing and completion
  • Strong commercial judgement, with the ability to understand a client’s objectives, identify the issues that matter and deliver clear, pragmatic, solutions-focused advice
  • The ability to identify material legal and commercial issues, assess risk and communicate findings with confidence
  • A track record of managing files to scope, budget and transaction timelines with increasing independence
  • Well-developed client service skills, with the confidence to build trusted relationships with clients and their professional advisers
  • Composure and precision during time-sensitive transaction processes
  • A collaborative approach with the maturity to know when to run with something and when to seek input
