We are currently seeking compassionate, reliable, and dedicated Disability Support Workers to join our team in Townsville, Queensland. This casual opportunity is ideal for individuals who are passionate about empowering people with disabilities to live independently, participate in their communities, and achieve their personal goals.

As a Disability Support Worker, you will provide person-centred support to participants in their homes and the community, helping them maintain their independence, dignity, and quality of life.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist participants with daily living activities, including personal care, grooming, meal preparation, and household tasks.
• Provide support with community access, social activities, appointments, and recreational outings.
• Encourage independence and active participation in daily life.
• Maintain accurate progress notes and report any changes in participant wellbeing.
• Follow individual support plans and promote participant choice and autonomy.
• Work collaboratively with families, healthcare professionals, and support networks.
• Ensure the safety, wellbeing, and rights of participants are upheld at all times.

About You

You are a caring, patient, and dependable individual who enjoys making a positive impact in the lives of others. You have excellent communication skills and a strong commitment to delivering quality support services.

Essential Requirements

• Certificate III in Individual Support, Disability, Aged Care, Community Services, or equivalent qualification.
• Previous experience in disability support, aged care, community services, or a similar role.
• Current NDIS Worker Screening Check (or willingness to obtain).
• Current First Aid and CPR Certificate.
• Valid Australian Driver’s Licence.
• Reliable vehicle with comprehensive insurance.
• Right to work in Australia.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Desirable Criteria

• Ability to speak Swahili / Sango  / French is highly desirable.
• Experience supporting participants from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.
• Experience providing personal care and manual handling support.
• Male comfortable providing personal care support (Showering, toileting, dressing, oral hygiene etc.)  to male participants, in accordance with participant preferences, support plans, and dignity of care principles.
• Medication administration training (or willingness to obtain).
