VFX Artists (2D Animation) | Hooligan Animation – Expression of Interest

Hooligan Animation is seeking talented VFX Artists to join the team on the 2D animated series DEANO.

This role is suited to artists with strong technical and creative skills who are passionate about enhancing storytelling through stylised visual effects for animation.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Create high-quality 2D visual effects for animated sequences
• Work closely with directors, compositors and animation teams to achieve the show’s visual style
• Produce effects such as atmospherics, lighting, energy, weather, particles and environmental effects
• Integrate VFX assets into production-ready scenes and workflows
• Maintain consistency across episodes and sequences
• Adhere to strict studio file naming conventions and production workflows
• Revise work based on creative feedback
• Deliver work to production deadlines and quotas

Requirements

• Experience creating VFX for 2D animation productions
• Strong understanding of timing, motion, composition and visual storytelling
• Proficiency in ToonBoom Harmony Animation Software
• Ability to work within established production pipelines and technical requirements
• Strong communication, collaboration and time management skills
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced production environment

Production Pipeline

• Work collaboratively with Animation, Compositing and Editorial departments
• Ensure all scenes meet technical and creative specifications before delivery
• Maintain organised project files and version control throughout production

• This role is fully studio-based at our Brisbane studio.
