OpOz goes live this month, and we need a designer who’s ready to jump in and help shape how it looks from day one. Your work will be published, seen and shared, building a portfolio full of real, live projects.

About us

OpOz is the media arm of HomeFront Group, a veteran-founded organisation started by two former Army infantry officers. Through HomeFront Australia, we help veterans, older Australians and people with disability stay safe and independent in their homes. That same commitment to people and community drives everything we publish.

OpOz shares Australian stories worth telling. Business, community, culture and the people making a difference, with the veteran and Defence community at our heart. This year alone we’ve covered Land Forces 2026 in Perth, Australia’s largest land defence expo, and VetCon 2026 in Sydney, bringing together hundreds of veteran-owned businesses.

Our new website launches this month, so you’ll be joining at the perfect time to help set the look and feel of a brand-new publication.

The role

We’re looking for a Junior Graphic Designer who’s ready to jump straight in. You’ll join the OpOz production team on a 3 month full time contract, with a likely extension for the right person.

You’ll work alongside our Senior Producer, Creative Lead and Senior Designer, a small, tight crew who move quickly and care about good work. We’re a social bunch who genuinely enjoy working together, and we invest in our people. If you bring the energy, we’ll back you to grow.

From your first week, your designs will be going out to our audience.

What you’ll be doing

• Creating eye-catching feature images and graphics for OpOz articles
• Designing scroll-stopping social assets that get our stories seen
• Adapting your work across platforms so it looks sharp everywhere
• Bringing fresh ideas while keeping our brands consistent
• Turning around revisions fast, without losing quality

What we’re looking for

You live in Adobe. Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign feel like second nature, and you’re ready to add value from day one. You’ll get plenty of feedback and support, but this isn’t a training role. We need someone who can hit the ground running.

You’ll also bring:

• Real-world design experience, through work, freelance, internships or uni projects for real clients
• A sharp eye for layout, typography and colour
• Energy, enthusiasm and the ability to juggle a few jobs at once
• Your own laptop capable of running Adobe Creative Cloud (we’ll provide the licence)
• A Brisbane base and full working rights in Australia
• Bonus points for Premiere Pro or After Effects

The details

• 3 month full time contract, with a likely extension
• $30 to $34 per hour + super
• Full time in our Milton office (local applicants considered ONLY for this opportunity)
