Summary:
As a Disability Support Worker in Melton, Victoria, you will play a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for individuals with disabilities. This temporary, casual position requires a compassionate and dedicated professional who can provide support in various settings, including Supported Independent Living (SIL) and in-home care. Your contributions will ensure that clients can access their communities and participate in social activities, fostering independence and dignity.
Responsibilities:
- Support an ASD child by providing care and assistance with daily activities.
- Assist with cleaning and laundry tasks to maintain a safe and hygienic environment.
- Provide respite for parents, allowing them time to rest and recharge.
- Facilitate community access and social participation for clients.
- Encourage and support clients in developing independent living skills.
- Collaborate with other team members to ensure comprehensive care.
- Document and report on client progress and any concerns to relevant stakeholders.
Qualifications:
- Certificate III in Disability Support or related field
- Diploma in Community Services
- Experience in the disability support sector
- Experience in Supported Independent Living (SIL) and in-home care (IHC) settings
- Fluency in Auslan is highly desirable
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong problem-solving skills
