About Health Partners
We’re on South Australia’s side and have been for 85 years. Our mission has always been to bring about a better state of health by making it easier for South Australians to access the health care and support they need, while finding new ways to give back to the communities we call home.
We’re proud to be a not-for-profit and guided by doing what’s right for our members, our people and the broader community.
As South Australia’s largest open health insurer, providing cover to more than 90,000 people, we’ve built a strong foundation. But we’re not standing still. We’re looking ahead, challenging what’s possible and finding new ways to deliver even greater value to our members.
About the opportunity
With our current Chief Financial Officer preparing for retirement, we’re looking to welcome a new executive leader who will help shape the next chapter of Health Partners.
This is more than stepping into an established CFO position. It’s a chance to make the role your own and play a defining part in taking Health Partners to the next level.
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer and working closely with the Board, you’ll be a key member of our Executive team, shaping our strategic direction while keeping us financially strong, commercially competitive and focused on member value.
We’re looking for someone who can see beyond the numbers, bringing commercial curiosity, challenging conventional thinking and turning financial insight into innovation, transformation and sustainable growth.
You’ll lead established Finance and Product teams with strategic oversight across financial performance, capital and investment management, product strategy, governance and regulatory compliance.
Importantly, you’ll influence how we evolve, from how we make decisions and use technology to how we develop products, invest and position Health Partners for the future.
What you’ll be doing
As our Chief Financial Officer, you’ll:
- Partner with the CEO, Board and Executive team to shape and deliver our long-term strategy.
- Lead our financial strategy, planning and performance, keeping us resilient while identifying growth opportunities.
- Influence our private health insurance product strategy, balancing affordability, competitiveness, member value and sustainability.
- Lead the Annual Premium Round, including rate and benefit reviews, actuarial analysis and regulatory submissions.
- Provide trusted commercial advice and financial insights that support informed decisions.
- Lead our capital management, investments, financial governance and regulatory obligations, including APRA requirements, the Internal Capital Adequacy Assessment Process and APRA quarterly and annual returns.
- Maintain our Fund Rules and ensure compliance with the Private Health Insurance Act 2007 and its Rules.
- Support the Audit Committee and Investment Advisory Committee, and build strong relationships with auditors, the appointed actuary and regulators.
- Sponsor finance transformation through better systems, automation and data.
- Evaluate new commercial opportunities, strategic investments and partnerships that support our future.
- Inspire, develop and empower a high-performing Finance team with a culture of collaboration, accountability and continuous improvement.
About you
You’re an accomplished finance executive who combines strong financial stewardship with genuine commercial ambition. You understand sound governance and financial discipline but are equally excited by challenging the status quo. You bring the confidence to contribute at Board and Executive level, the curiosity to explore new opportunities and the leadership to bring people with you.
Ideally, you’ll bring:
- Significant senior finance leadership experience within a complex, regulated environment.
- A proven ability to influence enterprise strategy and advise CEOs, Boards and Executive teams.
- Strong commercial acumen across financial strategy, capital management, investment decisions and risk.
- Experience in prudential or similarly regulated environments, with APRA exposure highly regarded, including capital adequacy planning (ICAAP), stress testing and engagement with regulators and auditors.
- An understanding of product strategy, commercial performance and delivering value to customers or members.
- A track record of leading and inspiring teams through change and transformation.
- A forward-thinking approach to technology, data and innovation, turning new ideas into practical outcomes.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications and current CA or CPA designation.
- The ability to be listed as an Accountable Person (FAR) and a Responsible Person (CPS 520).
Why Health Partners?
Our purpose goes beyond financial performance. As a South Australian not-for-profit, we’re driven by making a genuine difference to the health and wellbeing of our members and communities.
This is a rare opportunity to join an established, purpose-led organisation at an important point in its journey.
You’ll build on a strong legacy while bringing your own ideas, experience and vision, as part of an Executive team shaping what Health Partners becomes next.
If you’re ready for an executive opportunity where you can make a lasting impact, we’d love to hear from you.
