Description

Keep a major university running smoothly, with a team that has your back.

Since 1984, Harris HMC has delivered integrated commercial construction and services. We look after the electrical maintenance at Victoria University, and we’re looking for an experienced A-Grade Electrician to join the team on this long-term site. You’ll work at the Footscray campus, along with other campuses in Melbourne’s western suburbs and the CBD.

This role suits someone who is comfortable working independently and also enjoys being part of a wider team. You’ll get to know the site, build good relationships with the client, and take ownership of the work in front of you.

What you’ll be doing

  • Reactive maintenance and repairs across the university’s buildings and facilities
  • Minor project works
  • Preventative maintenance, including RCD testing, thermographic scanning, and exit and emergency lighting testing
  • Liaising with the client to understand their needs and keep them up to date
  • Working independently and as part of the wider Harris HMC team
  • Completing clear service reports and documentation after each job

What you’ll bring

  • A current A-Grade Electrical Licence
  • Experience in commercial electrical maintenance
  • Strong fault-finding skills and a methodical approach
  • Strong organisational skills: you can plan your day, prioritise jobs and adjust when reactive work comes in
  • Good communication skills and confidence dealing with clients
  • An eye for detail and pride in quality work
  • A safety-first mindset. We put safety ahead of everything else.

What’s in it for you

  • Variety: a mix of reactive, preventative and minor project work
  • A consistent client: get to know Victoria University and its campuses well
  • Fully maintained company vehicle
  • Training and tickets provided to keep your skills and qualifications current
  • A clear path to grow: build skills beyond the tools
  • Stability: a long-term role with an established business that has been building partnerships for over 40 years
  • A team that backs you: people who pitch in, share what they know and have some fun along the way
