The Opportunity

Are you a commercially minded property professional looking to take the next step in your asset management career?

We’re seeking a proactive and ambitious Assistant Asset Manager to join our Melbourne team on a minimum 12-month fixed-term contract, covering parental leave.

Reporting to the Portfolio Manager, Industrial, you’ll play an important role in the day-to-day management and performance of our property portfolio, with exposure to leasing, tenant engagement, financial management and strategic asset planning.

This is a hands-on opportunity to build on your property experience, sharpen your commercial judgement and work closely with experienced industry professionals. From negotiating leasing opportunities and analysing asset performance to supporting capital projects and contributing to investment decisions, you’ll gain exposure to the activities that drive property value.

We’re looking for someone who enjoys combining analytical thinking with relationship management, takes initiative and is ready to make a meaningful contribution.

What You’ll Be Doing

Working closely with our Asset Management and Property Management teams, you’ll be involved in a broad range of commercial and operational activities, including:

  • Leasing and negotiations: Supporting leasing campaigns, analysing commercial deals, preparing lease documentation and engaging directly with existing and prospective tenants.
  • Asset performance: Monitoring property performance, including income, arrears, compliance and operational outcomes, to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Financial management: Contributing to property budgets, forecasts, operating expenditure, capital expenditure and outgoings reconciliations.
  • Tenant engagement: Building strong relationships with tenants and supporting initiatives that enhance their experience across the portfolio.
  • Capital projects: Assisting with the planning and delivery of capital works to achieve agreed budgets and timeframes.
  • Strategic planning and reporting: Contributing to annual asset plans, valuations, investor reporting and portfolio performance updates.
  • Transactions and market insights: Supporting property acquisitions and divestments while staying informed of market trends and opportunities.

About You

You’ll bring a solid understanding of commercial property fundamentals, strong analytical capability and a genuine interest in building your career in asset management.

Ideally, you’ll have:

  • A tertiary qualification in property, land economics, accounting, finance or a related discipline.
  • Experience in property management, valuations, property analysis, leasing or a similar commercial property role.
  • A sound understanding of the factors that influence property performance and value.
  • Experience supporting or negotiating leasing transactions, with the confidence to engage with tenants and other stakeholders.
  • Strong financial and analytical skills, with excellent attention to detail.
  • The ability to build effective relationships, communicate clearly and manage competing priorities.
  • A proactive, collaborative approach and the confidence to take ownership of your work.
  • Experience using MRI (including Cougar) or Yardi property platforms will be highly regarded, as will knowledge of relevant property regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Most importantly, you’ll be someone who brings curiosity, initiative and a solutions-focused mindset, with a willingness to learn and contribute as part of a collaborative team.

Why Join Growthpoint?

You’ll enjoy a role that offers variety, meaningful responsibility and exposure to both the operational and strategic aspects of asset management, providing an excellent opportunity to broaden your commercial property experience.

This is a full-time, Melbourne-based position offered on a minimum 12-month fixed-term contract, with occasional travel required.
