Private Pathology Laboratory – 3 Days per Week Monday, Tuesday & Friday & Some Saturday Work Available

We are a private pathology laboratory in Western Australia seeking a reliable, organised and detail-focused team member to join our laboratory support team.

This is a varied part-time position combining data entry and specimen reception duties in the morning with pathology courier duties in the afternoon.

The permanent roster will be three days per week – Monday, Tuesday and Friday. Some Saturday work is also available. Additional hours may be offered from time to time to assist with staff leave coverage, particularly on Wednesdays and Thursdays, so flexibility to work additional days when required would be highly regarded.

About the Role

This is an important support position within our pathology laboratory. You will assist with the accurate and timely processing of information and specimens during the morning before transitioning to courier duties during the afternoon.

Accuracy, confidentiality, reliability and attention to detail are essential, as you will be working in an environment where accurate information and careful handling of pathology material are critical.

Morning Duties

Your morning responsibilities will include:

  • Accurate data entry and maintenance of laboratory information;
  • Answering incoming telephone calls and assisting with enquiries;
  • Receiving and processing specimens in accordance with laboratory procedures;
  • Checking accompanying documentation for completeness and accuracy;
  • Filing and retrieval of pathology slides and blocks;
  • Maintaining accurate records and organised filing systems;
  • Identifying and escalating discrepancies where required; and
  • Assisting with other general specimen reception and laboratory support duties.

Full training will be provided in our laboratory procedures and systems.

Afternoon Duties – Courier Driving

During the afternoon, you will undertake pathology courier duties, including:

  • Completing scheduled courier runs;
  • Collecting and transporting pathology specimens and associated documentation;
  • Ensuring specimens are handled and transported carefully and securely;
  • Maintaining appropriate confidentiality at all times;
  • Communicating professionally with medical practices, healthcare professionals and laboratory staff; and
  • Completing courier runs safely, efficiently and on schedule.

About You

We are looking for someone who is dependable, professional and takes pride in getting the details right.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
  • A high level of accuracy and attention to detail;
  • Strong data entry and general computer skills;
  • Good organisational and time-management skills;
  • The ability to follow established procedures carefully;
  • A professional and confidential approach when handling patient and medical information;
  • The ability to work independently as well as part of a small team;
  • A reliable and punctual approach to work;
  • A current unrestricted driver’s licence and excellent driving history; and
  • Confidence undertaking regular driving as part of your normal duties.

Previous experience in pathology, medical administration, specimen reception, healthcare, data entry or courier work would be advantageous; however, it is not essential. Training will be provided to the right candidate.

Hours and Availability

The core position is three days per week:

Monday | Tuesday | Friday 9:00am to 3:30pm

Some Saturday work is available.

There may also be opportunities for additional hours when other team members are on leave. Applicants who are available to provide additional coverage, particularly on Wednesdays and Thursdays, are encouraged to let us know their availability when applying.

Why Join Us?

This role offers an opportunity to become part of a professional private pathology laboratory where accuracy, quality and teamwork are highly valued.

The position would suit someone looking for a stable part-time role with a combination of office-based work, laboratory support and driving, rather than spending the entire day behind a desk.

You will receive training in our laboratory systems, specimen reception procedures and quality requirements and will work alongside an experienced pathology team.

How to Apply

If you are reliable, organised, have excellent attention to detail and enjoy a role that combines administration with time out on the road, we would like to hear from you.

Please submit your resume and a brief cover letter outlining your relevant experience and availability.
