About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Polisher to join our team at our Greenacre workshop.

We are also happy to consider a 4th Year Apprentice or someone further advanced in their apprenticeship, provided they have relevant polishing and finishing experience.

Working closely with our joinery and production teams, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality finishes to custom-made furniture and joinery. This is a hands-on role suited to someone who takes pride in their work and has a strong eye for detail.

Key Responsibilities

  • Preparing timber and veneer surfaces for finishing
  • Applying lacquers, stains, oils and other finishing products
  • Application of polyurethanes
  • Cabinetry painting and polishing
  • Operating pressure pots, pot guns, compressed air and spray guns
  • Staining, colouring and matching timber and veneer
  • Achieving consistent colour, sheen and finish across components
  • Repairing and rectifying finishes where required
  • Inspecting finished work to ensure it meets Germax’s quality standards
  • Working closely with cabinet makers, joiners and the production team
  • Maintaining a clean, safe and organised work area

About You

The successful applicant will have:

  • Previous experience as a Polisher, preferably within a joinery, furniture or manufacturing environment
  • Strong knowledge of timber, veneer and finishing techniques
  • Experience with cabinetry painting and polishing
  • Experience using spray equipment, including pressure pots, pot guns and spray guns
  • Excellent attention to detail and a high standard of workmanship
  • Ability to colour match and achieve consistent finishes
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Reliable and positive attitude
  • Good time management and the ability to meet production deadlines
  • Good verbal communication and reading skills

Experience working on high-end commercial joinery and furniture will be highly regarded.
