Job Description

Lead the trades team in completing allocated workshop work safely, efficiently and to the required quality, with clear communication and job records. Complete allocated diesel mechanic work safely, efficiently and to the required quality, with accurate records and prompt reporting of issues. We are looking for reliable, hardworking personnel, with a can-do attitude and enjoy what they do.  Carry out component repairs, scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on modern VOLVO, SCANIA Cab Chassis, High-quality explosive manufacturing equipment and variety of other light vehicles.

Daily responsibilities

  • Review priorities with the Supervisor and communicate allocated work to the trades team.
  • Support completion of work in line with procedures and agreed targets.
  • Coordinate daily activities of the team to ensure efficient operations.
  • Assist in training and mentoring new team members to promote a skilled workforce.
  • Check progress and records, communicate issues and maintain safe housekeeping.
  • Complete allocated diesel mechanic work within your competence and applicable procedures

Weekly responsibilities

  • Attend and hold team meetings and review workload, work in progress and the following week’s priorities.
  • Review safety, quality, productivity, customer service and record accuracy; progress improvements.

Periodic and as required

  • Monthly: review team performance, training needs and outstanding safety actions.
  • Annually: support performance reviews, training plans and policy acknowledgements.

Performance expectations

Safe work; quality and productive delivery; customer service; accurate records. Be willing to undertake training specific to the explosives industry.

Experience & Qualification Requirements:

·Trade Cert or Engineering Cert as a Diesel Mechanic / Auto Electrician

·LV mechanic (Option to skill up to HV mechanic)

·Blasting/Explosives/Mining desirable

·Unrestricted HR license desirable

·Previous experience overseeing small teams and jobs.

·Practical understanding of Mechanical Equipment & Plant.

·Strong safety focus and process minded individual.
