Operations Leader

About the Role

We are seeking a hands-on and commercially driven Head of Operations to lead and transform our end-to-end operations function.

This is a critical leadership role responsible for driving operational excellence, improving inventory performance, strengthening supplier outcomes, and building a scalable operations platform to support the company’s next stage of growth.

You will oversee:

  • Warehouse & Logistics
  • Procurement & Supply Chain
  • Product & R&D Coordination
  • After Sales & Warranty
  • Quality Management System (ISO 9001)

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Execution

  • Lead and develop a multi-functional operations team
  • Drive accountability, structure, and performance across departments
  • Align operations with company strategic goals

Supply Chain & Inventory

  • Implement demand planning with forward visibility (12-month rolling forecast)
  • Optimise inventory levels and reduce obsolete stock
  • Strengthen supplier performance, quality, and delivery reliability

Product & R&D Coordination

  • Oversee product lifecycle from concept to launch
  • Ensure all product documentation (specifications, manuals, compliance) is complete
  • Collaborate with engineering and suppliers on manufacturability (DFM/DFMA)

Quality & Compliance

  • Own and enhance the ISO 9001 Quality Management System
  • Manage product quality, warranty risks, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Establish structured processes, including recall procedures

Systems & Data

  • Drive effective use of ERP systems (Odoo or similar)
  • Improve data integrity, reporting, and operational visibility
  • Identify opportunities for automation and process improvement

Continuous Improvement

  • Lead operational efficiency initiatives
  • Reduce costs, improve DIFOT, and enhance customer experience
  • Support ESG initiatives where relevant

What We’re Looking For

MUST HAVE (Critical Requirement)

  • Strong background in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Systems, or Operations Engineering
  • Proven ability to design, optimise, and improve operational systems (not just manage them)
  • Deep understanding of:
    • Process design & optimisation
    • Production and supply chain flow
    • Capacity planning
    • Continuous improvement methodologies

This role requires a systems thinker who can build structure, not just maintain operations.

Experience

  • 10+ years in operations, supply chain, or manufacturing environments
  • Proven experience leading cross-functional teams
  • Strong experience in inventory, procurement, and supplier management
  • Experience in product-based or manufacturing businesses (essential)

Skills & Capability

  • Strong leadership with a hands-on execution mindset
  • Commercial thinking with operational discipline
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 / QMS preferred

Data & Technology

  • Strong Excel and data analysis skills (required)
  • Ability to analyse inventory, forecast demand, and generate actionable insights
  • Experience using ERP systems (Odoo or similar)
  • Exposure to AI tools (e.g. ChatGPT) or strong interest in leveraging technology for automation and improvement

Highly Valued

  • Engineering degree (Industrial / Mechanical / Manufacturing preferred)
  • Experience in product development or R&D environments
  • Experience in turning around underperforming operations
