Lead and own the future of our IT Domestic Programmes
About this role
This is a rare opportunity to lead the academic and operational direction of our IT programmes within a thriving tertiary institution. As Programme Leader, you will manage the successful delivery of our current Micro-Credentials and Graduate Certificate (AI focus) programmes, while leading the development of new programmes in growth areas of IT. You will build a strong delivery team,
grow a robust network of industry partners, and create internship/work experience pathways that give our learners genuine real-world experience.
This is a full‑time, permanent position based at our Manukau City head office.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a forward‑thinking IT department strategy
- Manage successful delivery of current IT programmes, including Micro-credentials and the Graduate Certificate (AI focus)
- Lead the development of new programmes in growth areas of IT
- Manage departmental budgets and resources
- Ensure quality and compliance with NZQA standards
- Build and lead a strong IT delivery team and grow a robust network of industry partners that enables student internships and real-world skills
- Contribute to classroom delivery including teaching, modelling best-practice
- Embed project‑based and inquiry‑led learning
- Develop assessment and curriculum resources
- Mentor and develop teaching staff
- Support and supervise student research activity, particularly within our Graduate Certificate in IT, and maintain academic currency through scholarly engagement
- Support learner success and pastoral wellbeing
About you
You will bring the leadership capability, academic expertise, and industry insight needed to guide a high‑performing team, including:
- Significant academic leadership experience in tertiary education
- Relevant tertiary qualification (Master’s or PhD preferred)
- Tertiary teaching qualification (NZCATT Level 5+), or willingness to obtain within two years
- Strong industry knowledge and networks across the IT sector, with depth in areas such as cloud, networking and IT infrastructure
- Experience in developing new tertiary education programmes
- Demonstrated success in building industry partnerships and securing internship or work-integrated learning opportunities for students
- Proven high-quality teaching experience at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level, with the capability to support and supervise student research
- Deep understanding of experiential and problem‑based learning
- Commitment to change leadership, continuous improvement, and innovative curriculum design
