Description

We’re looking for a highly capable, self-directed, experienced Health and Safety Specialist to provide expert advice and will play a crucial role in ensuring a safe and compliant working environment within our Institution. The successful candidate will contribute to the overall wellbeing of employees and the organisation’s compliance with health and safety regulations.

This is a permanent part-time position (15 – 20 hours), primarily based at our South Auckland Campus sites with a requirement to travel across Auckland campus sites as required. Hours to be determined in consultation with the successful candidate.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Provide expert advice and guidance on NZ Health and Safety legislation, best practice and industry trends.
  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve Health and Safety Management Systems, driving cultural change across the Institution.
  • Deliver training and facilitate workshops to build health and safety capability and awareness.
  • Lead investigations using sound methodology to achieve positive outcomes.
  • Manage injury and return-to-work processes and support the development and rollout of wellbeing strategies and initiatives.
  • Monitor and report on health and safety performance metrics.

What You’ll Bring

  • A relevant tertiary qualification in Health and Safety or an equivalent qualification such as a Level 4 Diploma in Health and Safety or NEBOSH certification.
  • Self-starter with excellent understanding and application of NZ Health and Safety legislation and best practice to ensure compliance.
  • Experience in a similar Health & Safety Specialist role, preferably in education, manufacturing and/or hospitality environments across multiple sites.
  • Proven experience of developing and implementing Health and Safety & Risk Management Systems.
  • Expertise in conducting investigations and injury management experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
