Exercise & Sports Science Australia (ESSA) is the nation’s leading voice on exercise and sports science. We govern and represent approximately 10,000 degree-qualified accredited exercise professionals who support Australians to reach their health and performance goals.
About your role
This role is a 12 month contract for a maternity leave cover, at part time tenure (0.8 FTE).
Regulation Services Unit (RSU) is responsible for assuring the quality of our professions to enable their delivery of safe and effective health, wellbeing and performance services.
The role involves assessing accreditation applications, providing high-quality support and advice to applicants and stakeholders, supporting the development, review and implementation of accreditation requirements, supporting related projects, and helping review procedures and materials.
What you’ll do
Application Assessment
- Assess domestic and international individual accreditation applications and graduate entry assessments
- Assess and process other types of accreditation applications as needed
- Record progress, decisions, outcomes and correspondence
- Engage in moderation processes with assessment team
- Support the development and review of quality assurance and continuous improvement processes
- Support the development and review of individual accreditation assessment procedures and supporting resources
Individual Accreditation Support
- Support the development, review and implementation of accreditation requirements, procedures and supporting resources
- Develop, update and maintain policies, procedures and support materials resources to support operational accreditation processes for individual applications and assessment
- Identify opportunities and implement process for quality assurance and continuous improvement
Project Management
- Assist the Regulations Manager to provide a range of project management including preparation of detailed project documentation and plans including project scopes, briefs, and discussion papers and other associated project governance requirements
- Undertake research and consultation
- Review, monitor and provide progress reports on project plans to the Regulations Manager, to ensure the successful delivery of divisional projects on time and within budget
- Proactively work with key stakeholders to ensure outcomes from projects are achieved and other activities are actioned
Stakeholder Engagement
- Communicate effectively and efficiently with applicants, including timely advice of application outcomes
- Provide advice and guidance on application processes to prospective applicants and ESSA staff members

- Tertiary qualifications in Exercise & Sports Science
- Demonstrates ESSA’S organisational values
- Excellent professional written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work as part of a team, and autonomously as required
- Ability to apply fact-based data to support quality decision making
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate and consult with key stakeholders
- Ability to prioritise, multi-task, and demonstrate strong problem-solving skills
