About the Role

EVERAU is looking for an enthusiastic and highly organised  Design Assistant to join our growing design team.

This is a hands-on support role working closely with the Product Designer and wider team across the design and product development process. You will play an important role in keeping projects organised, information flowing and product development moving smoothly from initial concept through to sampling and finalisation.

The role combines creative design support with strong organisation and product coordination. You will help bring ideas to life through research, moodboards, colour and material boards, CAD and presentation work, while also supporting sample tracking, supplier communication, product information and day-to-day development.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone early in their design career who wants to develop a strong understanding of how footwear and accessories are designed and brought to market and grow within our team.

Key Responsibilities

Design Support

• Support the Product Designer across seasonal footwear and accessories collections.
• Assist with research into trends, materials, colour, competitor product and consumer direction.
• Create moodboards, inspiration boards, colour and material boards and seasonal presentations.
• Assist with CADs, colourways, technical drawings and product presentations.
• Organise and maintain design references, product imagery, material libraries and sample collections.
• Support the preparation of design briefs and presentations.
• Assist with sample reviews, product updates and design amendments.

Product Development & Sample Coordination

• Assist in coordinating samples throughout the development process.
• Maintain accurate sample trackers and development schedules.
• Photograph, label and organise samples and ensure product information is kept up to date.
• Communicate sample requirements and development updates with factories and suppliers.
• Follow up on outstanding samples, materials, comments and information to help keep projects moving.
• Help communicate design changes and feedback to suppliers following sample reviews.
• Maintain organised product files, CADs, tech packs and development documentation.

Factory & Supplier Communication

• Support day-to-day communication with overseas factories and suppliers.
• Assist with sending product information, CADs, specifications and development comments.
• Follow up on requests and ensure responses and actions are communicated back to the wider team.
• Help maintain clear records of factory communication, sample status and development decisions.
• Build a strong understanding of factory capabilities, construction and manufacturing processes.

Team & Workflow Support

• Help keep the design and development process organised and on schedule.
• Maintain seasonal calendars, trackers and product status reports.
• Ensure key information is available to the team at each stage of development.
• Support meetings, sample reviews and product presentations.
• Help coordinate the movement of samples, materials and information between design, production, sourcing and suppliers.
• Be proactive in identifying what needs to happen next and following up to keep projects moving.

About You

You are a creative, organised and proactive junior designer who enjoys being part of a team and is excited by the process of making products.

You have a strong eye for colour, material, proportion and detail, but you’re equally comfortable getting into the practical side of product development. You are naturally organised, communicate clearly and take pride in keeping things accurate and moving.

You will ideally have:

• 1+ years’ experience in footwear, accessories, fashion or a related design environment.
• A relevant design qualification or equivalent industry experience.
• Strong Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop skills.
• An understanding of CAD, technical drawings and presentation development.
• An interest in footwear, accessories, materials and product design.
• Strong attention to detail and excellent organisational skills.
• Confident written and verbal communication skills.
• A proactive approach and willingness to follow things through.
• The ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
• An eagerness to learn about product development, manufacturing and supplier relationships.
• Experience communicating with overseas suppliers or factories would be an advantage, but is not essential.
