Westug Pty Ltd, a subsidiary of Engage Marine, provides marine support services in the Pilbara region of Western Australia. 

Engage Marine is an Australian port operations provider delivering specialised marine services to a range of industries. Headquartered in Perth, the company operates nationally with operational bases including Sydney, Geelong, Port Latta, Whyalla, Carnarvon and Far North Queensland. 

This is a residential-only position. Applicants must reside in the greater Karratha area or be willing to relocate.

About the Role:

Westug is seeking an enthusiastic and driven individual for a Purchasing/Stores Traineeship position based out of our Dampier & Cape Lambert offices. The role is suitable for a recent High School graduate or someone returning to the workforce. The role will work closely with the Purchasing Lead, Tug Crews, Maintenance Staff and management to ensure efficient and effective delivery of our Port Services Contract with Rio Tinto.

This Full-time role will work a 9-day fortnight roster however those seeking part-time or flexible work arrangements are encouraged to apply.

The Purchasing/Stores Trainee is responsible for helping to support the purchasing function in an efficient and effective manner while assisting with maintaining warehouse facilities.

This is a traineeship where you will study towards a relevant qualification and develop skills and qualifications whilst working in the industry.

Some key accountabilities of the role include but are not limited to:

• Issue purchase orders in accordance with approved requisition and purchasing policy
• Assist in Supplier account setup, Supplier invoice processing, receipting of goods inwards & accurate part allocation
• Freight preparation and bookings, including unloading of transport vehicles.
• RTIO SAP Ordering – oil, lubes etc.  
• Liaising with suppliers to ensure contract obligations are met including monitoring orders and communicating status to relevant parties. 
• Collection and delivery of parts and consumables to the workplace where required.
• Assist in Warehouse/Vessel Parts management (creation, allocation, transfers etc)
• Assist in maintaining warehouse facilities in an efficient and effective manner in accordance with company policies and procedures.
• Support the Purchasing Lead in preparing and maintaining registers of equipment, parts & freight as required.
• Support the purchasing lead in updating and maintaining the purchasing system & registers accurately.
• Monitoring stock levels to ensure critical spares, warehouse stores & vessel consumables are always available.

Qualifications & Experience

• C Class Driver’s License is required (provisionary licenses may be accepted).
• Attention to detail and basic computer/Microsoft suite skills are essential.
• No prior stores or purchasing experience required.

This traineeship provides the opportunity to gain a relevant qualification and practical industry experience, with a pathway into an ongoing Purchasing & Stores Officer with Westug following successful completion of the traineeship, subject to performance and ongoing business requirements.
