We have an exciting opportunity for an Associate Professor/Professor and Head of Social Work to join our team at the ECA College of Health Sciences (CHS), based at our Parramatta or Brisbane campus.

CHS is a higher education provider offering postgraduate programs in health and social sciences, with a strong focus on leadership and contemporary professional practice. As part of its strategic expansion, CHS has developed a Master of Social Work (Qualifying), which is accredited by TEQSA and is currently progressing through the professional accreditation process with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW). The Head of Social Work will play a key leadership role in establishing and growing the program and supporting CHS through the accreditation process and beyond.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the Social Work program and academic team at CHS, providing academic, professional and strategic leadership.
  • Ensure the Social Work program maintains compliance with relevant regulatory, accreditation and professional requirements, including AASW accreditation requirements and the ASWEAS.
  • Provide oversight of course delivery, curriculum quality, academic standards, course monitoring, reporting and associated administrative requirements.
  • Provide leadership and oversight of Social Work field education to ensure appropriate quality, governance and compliance with accreditation requirements.
  • Lead and support Social Work academic staff, fostering a collegial culture of high-quality teaching, scholarship, research and continuous improvement.
  • Make a strong contribution to the academic governance and collegial life of CHS, including participation in relevant committees and institutional initiatives.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with the social work profession, industry, community organisations and other external stakeholders.
  • Support the growth, profile and reputation of Social Work at CHS, including initiatives to strengthen student recruitment, industry engagement and the standing of the program.
  • Contribute to the ongoing development and strategic direction of Social Work education at CHS.

As the successful candidate you will have:

  • A recognised qualification in Social Work that provides eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW).
  • A doctoral qualification in Social Work or a closely related discipline.
  • Minimum of five years’ relevant professional social work practice experience.
  • Significant higher education teaching experience in Social Work
  • Demonstrated understanding of AASW accreditation requirements and the Australian Social Work Education and Accreditation Standards (ASWEAS).
