About the Role

Derbarl Yerrigan Health Service (DYHS) is seeking an innovative and community-focused Tackling Indigenous Smoking (TIS) Digital Producer to join our Public Health team. This unique position combines health promotion, community engagement, and digital innovation to support smoking prevention and smoking cessation initiatives for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

Working closely with the TIS Coordinator, local communities, health professionals, and national stakeholders, you will design, develop and deliver engaging health promotion activities, including the creation of innovative digital content strategies that support tobacco prevention and cessation messaging across the region.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone passionate about improving Aboriginal health outcomes while applying advanced digital production and game design skills to create meaningful community impact.

Key Responsibilities

Health Promotion & Community Engagement

• Develop, implement and evaluate health promotion initiatives focused on smoking prevention and cessation.
• Deliver community education activities, forums, workshops, and awareness campaigns.
• Support initiatives that promote smoke-free homes, workplaces and community environments.
• Promote smoking cessation services and refer community members to appropriate support programs.
• Assist with the delivery of regional smoking prevention and cessation campaigns, events and social marketing activities.
• Collect and maintain data to support program evaluation, reporting and performance outcomes.

Digital Production & Interactive Development

• Design, develop, test and evaluate innovative and interactive digital experiences that support tobacco control messaging.
• Create engaging educational content using emerging technologies and immersive learning platforms.
• Develop digital products from concept through to implementation and evaluation.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure culturally appropriate and engaging digital experiences.

Essential Criteria

• Experience working in health promotion, community development, public health or a related field.
• Experience developing games and interactive digital products from concept through to completion.
• Proficiency in Unity 3D, C#, and associated development tools and frameworks including: VuforiaOculus IntegrationAR FoundationARCoreVisual scripting/Bolt scripting
• Strong knowledge of game development principles including: 3D modellingAnimation and riggingTexturing and UV mappingLighting and renderingMaterials and shadersScripting and coding best practices
• Ability to manage competing priorities and meet project deadlines.
• Demonstrated ability to work respectfully and effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and leaders.
• Understanding of the health and wellbeing needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
• Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and external organisations.
• Demonstrated commitment to cultural safety and culturally responsive practice.
• Current Working with Children Check (or ability to obtain).

Desirable Criteria

• Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander identification and community recognition.
• Experience delivering smoking cessation education and referral pathways.
• Qualifications in Health Sciences, Public Health, Education, Game Development, Digital Media, Interactive Design or a related discipline.
