BERTH 1 – SHIPLOADER INSTALLATION PROJECT QLD

De Goey Contractors (DGC) is seeking qualified individuals to join the Berth 1 – Shiploader 1A Installation Project at Dalrymple Bay Coal Terminal.
This is more than a standard shutdown – it’s a major heavy-lift and infrastructure installation project at Dalrymple Bay Coal Terminal.
The project will involve the removal of the existing shiploader and installation of a new shiploader onto Berth 1, including a major 2,000-tonne lift onto the berth.
A Heavy Lift Vessel (HLV) will travel from Western Australia carrying the new shiploader to site. Following installation, the HLV will transport the existing shiploader back to Western Australia.
A 2,000-tonne lift. A major shiploader installation. A project you don’t get the opportunity to work on every day.
PROJECT DETAILS
- Project: Berth 1 – Shiploader 1A Installation Location: Dalrymple Bay Coal Terminal
- Duration: Approximately 4–6 weeks
- Start: Mid-September
- Finish: Late October
- Shifts: 12-hour day and night shifts available
- Rosters: Various options available – 4/3, 5/2 and 6/1
Mackay local, FIFO and DIDO opportunities available.
FIFO and DIDO positions include flights, camp accommodation, meals and bus transfers to and from work.
For the right people, there is also potential for ongoing maintenance work with DGC following the project.

Structural Supervisors
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in structural supervision within mining, industrial or construction environments
- Proven leadership experience managing teams on shutdowns or construction projects
- Ability to interpret structural drawings
- Strong understanding of safety, quality and project requirements
Boilermakers
- Certificate III in Engineering – Fabrication Trade (Boilermaking)
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in heavy fabrication, structural welding or shutdown maintenance
- Ability to read and interpret drawings
- Ability to work unsupervised and deliver high-quality welds
- Ability to successfully complete a weld test
- Air-fed welding helmet required
- Shutdown/project experience preferred
Fitters
- Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade
- Minimum 5 years’ relevant experience
- Shutdown/project experience preferred
- Strong commitment to safety and quality
Advanced Riggers
- Relevant High Risk Work Licence (HRWL)
- Minimum 5 years’ relevant experience
- Proven experience in major lifting operations preferred
Trade Assistants
- Previous experience within mining, construction or shutdown environments preferred
- High Risk Work Licence – Forklift preferred
Trade Assistant roles are available to Mackay locals only.
