Oakbridge Lawyers are seeking an ambitious and capable Commercial Litigation Lawyer (1-5 years PQE) to join our growing Sydney office.
This role offers an opportunity to work on a significant roads and infrastructure litigation portfolio, acting for major corporate and government clients across Australia.
You will join a high performing litigation team responsible for managing large volumes of recovery and enforcement matters, while developing strong advocacy, drafting, strategic thinking and client management skills.
This is an ideal role for a lawyer looking to accelerate their litigation career through genuine responsibility, regular court appearances and direct exposure to sophisticated clients.
The Role
You will work closely with senior lawyers and clients across all stages of litigation, including:
· Managing defended and undefended recovery proceedings
· Conducting enforcement and judgment recovery actions
· Preparing and filing court documents across multiple jurisdictions
· Court appearances and advocacy across all stages of the litigation process
· Conducting settlement negotiations and resolving disputes commercially
· Advising clients on recovery strategies and litigation risk
· Managing high-volume portfolios while maintaining attention to detail and deadlines
· Preparing detailed written reports and recommendations for clients
· Liaising with barristers, insolvency practitioners, enforcement agencies and other stakeholders
Typical Day-to-Day Responsibilities
Your day may include:
· Drafting claims, affidavits, submissions and correspondence
· Reviewing evidence and preparing matters for hearing
· Appearing before courts and tribunals
· Conducting legal research on disputed issues
· Preparing client reports and strategic recommendations
· Managing filing deadlines and court timetables
· Communicating directly with corporate and government client representatives
· Negotiating payment arrangements and settlements
· Briefing counsel and preparing hearing materials
· Attending team and client meetings
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
· A NSW Practicing Certificate
· 1-5 years PQE in litigation, dispute resolution, debt recovery and commercial law
· Strong drafting skills with the ability to produce clear and accurate court documents
· Excellent written communication and reporting skills
· Strong organisational and file management abilities
· Ability to manage competing deadlines and priorities
· High attention to detail
· Strong work ethic and willingness to take ownership of matters
· Experience conducting recovery or enforcement proceedings
· Court appearance experience
· Experience managing litigation files autonomously
· Familiarity with debt recovery, insolvency or enforcement processes
