Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Catering Equipment Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience installing, servicing, and repairing commercial catering equipment used in kitchens, restaurants, cafes, and hospitality venues. This role requires a trade-qualified individual with excellent problem-solving skills, a focus on safety, and the ability to deliver high-quality work independently or as part of a team.
Responsibilities:
- Install, service, and repair a wide range of commercial catering equipment including ovens, fryers, grills, dishwashers, and combi ovens.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical, gas, and mechanical faults in equipment.
- Perform preventative maintenance to minimise breakdowns and ensure equipment reliability.
- Read and interpret service manuals, wiring diagrams, and equipment schematics.
- Liaise with customers and site contacts in a professional manner, ensuring minimal disruption to business operations.
- Complete service reports and maintain accurate records of work completed, parts used, and time on site.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant safety regulations, Australian Standards, and company procedures.
- Maintain tools, equipment, and company vehicle in good working condition.
- Work on-call or attend emergency breakdowns as required (as part of a rotating roster).
Qualifications & Experience:
- Trade qualification in electrical, gas fitting, refrigeration, or a relevant mechanical trade (preferred).
- Experience working with commercial catering equipment (minimum 2 years desirable).
- Restricted Electrical Licence or Gas Work Authorisation (preferred).
- White Card and valid driver’s licence.
- Ability to read technical documents and interpret equipment manuals.
- Strong diagnostic and fault-finding ability.
- Effective communication skills and customer service focus.
- Ability to work autonomously and manage time efficiently.
- Physically fit and able to work in kitchen environments (including hot, confined, or elevated areas).
