Description
About Dental Implants & Aesthetics Lab
Dental Implants & Aesthetics Lab, known around the group as The Lab, is a dental laboratory at Premion Place in Southport and part of the dentist-owned Coastal Dental Care group. Since 2016 we have provided dentists with a full range of work: crown and bridge, all-ceramic and tooth-coloured restorations, implant prosthetics, removable appliances, splints and more. We are a small team of technicians, ceramists and designers who pair traditional bench skill with digital design, milling and 3D printing, and we take real pride in the detail.
About the role
This is an entry-level role for someone who wants to learn how a dental lab runs from the ground up. You will start in the plaster room and on the day-to-day running of the lab, working alongside our Lab Coordinator. From there you will build your skills across removables, CAD design and crown work, with hands-on support from our senior technicians, ceramists and designers.
Good cases start in the plaster room, so this is where the foundations are laid. You will also be the first point of contact for the dentists we work with, so you will learn as much about how a lab operates as you do at the bench. Implants are a big part of what we do, and we will teach you the componentry as you go.
What you’ll be doing
- Running the plaster room: pouring, trimming margins, sectioning and articulating models
- Scanning and 3D printing models, and designing and printing digital wax-ups
- Fabricating removables, including splints, mouthguards, retainers, bleaching trays and stents (clear and LVI)
- Designing single-unit posterior crowns, and helping with milling, sintering, finishing and glazing
- Entering cases into Seazona, our lab software, plus invoicing, packing jobs and organising couriers
- Answering phones and emails, ordering stock, and booking patients in for shade consults
- Tracking remakes and implant componentry for our regulatory records
- Supporting the senior team with what they need for cases, logging service tickets when the milling machines need attention, and keeping the lab tidy in quieter moments
