About The Role
We have an excellent role for a Principal Electrical Engineer with a history of undertaking design roles on water and wastewater treatment plant projects. This is a critical role within the business which will see you working on a wide variety of infrastructure projects in the water industry and in collaboration with other disciplines, project managers and client representatives. Hence your strong technical and communication skills, including the ability to establish effective working relationships, will be critical to your success.

What Will You Be Doing
- Lead Electrical Engineer roles on water and wastewater projects, primarily for treatment plants and/or pump stations.
- Undertake electrical, instrumentation and controls design on projects.
- Prepare and review project specific detailed documentation to support procurement and delivery of major projects.
- Review of electrical design works internally within CMP and by others, including drawings, project specifications, and equipment selections for new installations and upgrades.
- Development of electrical standard templates and documents, either for internal use or for our clients.
- Mentoring less experienced electrical engineers and aiding the technical development of the team.
- Collaborate with other engineering disciplines to ensure seamless integration of electrical systems with other systems.
- Project management and/or design management roles on water and wastewater infrastructure projects (optional, not essential).
- Building strong relationships with our clients and developing compelling technical proposals.
About You
We would like you to bring a proactive and consultative approach, with an ability to prioritise your work and get things done – and to enjoy what you do, like we do. Ideally you will also possess the following:
- A tertiary degree in electrical or electronic engineering or related field.
- More than 15 years’ experience in the electrical, instrumentation and controls design
of water and wastewater assets.
- Experience within an engineering consultancy, or in a design role for a contractor or
asset owner.
- RPEV status and CPEng status (or can be achieved within 6 months with CMP’s
support).
- Ability to strengthen and grow existing client connections and support the
building of relevant new relationships, as a trusted technical advisor.
- Broad knowledge of Australian Standards and clients’ design standards/procedures
for major water authorities in Australia.
- Technical and commercial acumen with a focus on successful outcomes for our projects
and our clients.
- High levels of personal integrity, and a desire for continued professional
development and improvement as an engineering professional.
