Description

At City Parklands, a wholly owned subsidiary of Brisbane City Council, we are passionate about parks, public spaces and the communities who enjoy them. We provide integrated place management for Roma Street Parkland, South Bank Parklands, Anzac Square, Post Office Square and Newstead House on behalf of Brisbane City Council and the Queensland Government. As the trusted custodians of these iconic destinations, we are committed to managing, enhancing and activating these spaces with care, efficiency and creativity.

We’re looking for an experienced IT Manager to lead our Information Technology team, take ownership of technology service delivery across our distributed precinct network, and drive the ongoing maturity of our IT service management practice.

Reporting to the Chief Corporate Services Officer, you’ll lead a small, capable IT team and work closely with senior leaders, teams across the business and external service providers to keep our networks, systems, applications and cyber security reliable, secure and aligned to organisational objectives. You’ll combine hands-on service management discipline with strategic thinking, people leadership and sound governance, translating technology performance into clear, actionable insight for the business.

In this role, you’ll:

  • Lead the design, delivery and ongoing administration of secure, reliable IT systems and services across all City Parklands sites
  • Own and continuously improve IT service management (ITSM) practices across incident, request, problem, change and knowledge management
  • Monitor and report on service performance — including SLA performance, ticket ageing, first-contact resolution, repeat incidents and customer satisfaction — to inform decision-making at CCSO and Executive level
  • Apply structured problem management and root-cause analysis to identify and eliminate recurring issues
  • Hold strategic accountability for cyber security across the organisation, identifying and managing technology risk to protect systems, data and operations
  • Maintain and continually improve disaster recovery and business continuity arrangements for critical systems
  • Lead, coach and develop the IT team to deliver high-quality, customer-focused outcomes
  • Manage external service providers and vendors, holding them accountable to agreed service levels and performance expectations
  • Support City Parklands’ evaluation and adoption of emerging technology — including cloud, mobility and AI — balancing opportunity against risk in a public-facing environment
  • Prepare policies, frameworks, reports and documentation to support IT governance and organisational decision-making
  • Manage IT budgets and resources to deliver value-for-money outcomes
  • Build effective relationships with internal teams, external vendors and senior stakeholders across a diverse network

What you’ll bring:

  • A relevant tertiary qualification in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline
  • ITIL 4 certification (or equivalent)
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience configuring and improving a service management platform (e.g. ServiceNow or equivalent), including workflows, dashboards and reporting
  • Senior leadership experience gained in complex, public-facing or government environments
  • A track record of leading teams and fostering high-performing, collaborative cultures
  • A track record of delivering measurable service improvements, evidenced through service metrics and outcomes
  • Proven experience managing or influencing external service providers, including holding vendors accountable to agreed service levels
  • Strong analytical and reporting skills, with the ability to independently prepare reporting for senior and executive stakeholders
  • Demonstrated capability translating strategy into financially sustainable, practical outcomes
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to translate technical issues into clear business impact
  • Relevant industry certification such as CISM/CISSP or Microsoft certifications (desirable)
  • Familiarity with event technology platforms or Software as a Service (SaaS) environments (highly regarded, not essential)
