Overview of the Program

The Inspire@Home program provides therapeutic residential care to young people aged 12-18 on a 24-hour, 7-day rostered basis.

Working within a trauma-informed, strengths-based and person-centred framework, our teams support young people who may have experienced trauma and significant life challenges. The program aims to provide safety, stability and therapeutic support while helping young people achieve positive outcomes across all domains of wellbeing.

The Position / About the Role

As a Youth Care Worker in therapeutic residential care, you will be part of a supportive team providing consistent care and guidance to young people.

This is a hands-on role focused on building safe relationships and supporting young people through everyday experiences and challenges

Your day may include:

• Creating a safe, stable and consistent environment for young people
• Building positive and trusting relationships with young people
• Supporting young people to engage in routines, education, appointments and activities
• Preparing meals and contributing to the day-to-day running of the home
• Working collaboratively with your team and support networks
• Supporting young people through emotional distress, challenges and significant life events using therapeutic approaches
• Completing accurate and timely documentation

This is meaningful and rewarding work, but it can also be challenging. This role requires emotional resilience, patience, professional boundaries and the ability to remain calm and consistent when supporting young people through periods of crisis.

Availability across a 24/7 roster (including sleepovers) is required.

 Essential Requirements

• Satisfactory National Police Check.
• Current Tasmanian Working with Vulnerable People Card.
• Current Tasmanian Driver Licence.
• Current Provide First Aid training certificate or willingness to obtain on commencement.

Desirable Requirements

• Experience in Youth work or similar
• Diploma of Community Services (or related). Applicants without formal qualifications who demonstrate relevant skills, experience and a willingness to undertake further training are encouraged to apply.
