Role Purpose
As a member of the CNC Team at Bowhill Engineering, you’ll play a pivotal role in one of the most significant infrastructure projects in South Australia — the Torrens to Darlington (T2DA) Tunnel. Using one of the largest, most capable machining centres of its type in Australia, a brand new Okuma MCR-A5C-30 (6.5m long bed), complete with index head, 600mm column riser, Renishaw Touch Probe and Mastercam software. With a solid 18 months of continuous work to implement the processes, this 6,600 tonne project has 650 critical components to be machined across 12 detailed programs, this is your chance to take the reins on state-of-the-art technology and shape project outcomes from day one.
The CNC Machinist is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining CNC machines to produce high-quality precision components in line with engineering specifications and production requirements. This role requires technical expertise, attention to detail, and a strong focus on safety, efficiency, and quality output.
CNC Trade Assistant supports the CNC machining team in delivering high-quality precision components by assisting with machine preparation, basic operation, material handling, and workshop organisation. This role provides valuable exposure to CNC machining processes and is an ideal pathway for individuals looking to grow their skills and progress into a trade-qualified role.

Qualifications & Experience
- CNC Trade Assistant – entry level role/learn on the job, some experience highly regarded
- CNC Machinist – Trade qualified, proven experience in machining / CNC programming (Cert III or higher preferred)
- Proven experience commissioning CNC machinery and developing programs from scratch
- Skilled in tool setup, G-code programming, and multi-axis machining
- Strong computer skills and a systems mindset
- Exposure to large-scale infrastructure or structural steel environments is a plus
