Our approach is built on strong partnerships, industry expertise and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of safety, compliance and environmental management.

About the opportunity

We are seeking a motivated, reliable and safety-focused Aerodrome Reporting Officer (ARO) to join our Aviation team based in Miles, Queensland.

This is an important operational role supporting the safe and efficient operation of the aerodrome, which services a range of aviation activities, including charter flights, FIFO operations, aeromedical services and private aviation.

Working alongside the aviation team, you will play a key role in monitoring aerodrome serviceability, conducting airside inspections, identifying potential hazards and supporting effective wildlife hazard management.

This is a hands-on and varied position offering the opportunity to take ownership of operational responsibilities and contribute directly to aviation safety.

The position is offered on a part-time basis, working three days per week with a minimum of 24 hours. Remuneration will be between $36 and $42 per hour, including casual loading initially, depending on experience.

Key responsibilities:

  • Monitor aerodrome operations and report on serviceability, ensuring compliance with relevant CASA regulations, including CASR Part 139 and the applicable Manual of Standards.
  • Conduct routine airside inspections, identify hazards and coordinate the timely resolution of serviceability issues.
  • Monitor wildlife activity and implement effective wildlife hazard management and control measures.
  • Identify and respond to operational safety concerns, assisting with emergency response activities when required.
  • Maintain accurate inspection records, operational logs and detailed reports on aerodrome conditions and incidents.
  • Liaise professionally with key stakeholders, including Council representatives, airline operators, contractors and airport personnel.
  • Undertake general aerodrome maintenance and upkeep to support safe and efficient operations.

About you

You are a proactive, dependable and safety-conscious individual who takes pride in maintaining high operational standards.

You have strong observational skills, communicate confidently and are comfortable working independently while managing competing priorities. You understand the importance of following procedures, identifying potential risks and taking appropriate action to maintain a safe operating environment.

We welcome applications from experienced aviation professionals as well as individuals looking to transition into a new career.

Relevant experience in Defence, emergency services, aviation, wildlife management, field operations or other safety-focused environments will be highly regarded.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

The following qualifications and experience are desirable; however, they are not all essential. We recognise the value of transferable skills and are willing to provide training and upskilling for the right candidate.

  • CASA Aeronautical Radio Operator Certificate (AROC), or the ability to obtain one.
