- 7+ years construction experience, including 3+ years managing sites and supervisors on relevant projects.
- Strong knowledge of WA WHS legislation and mine site safety requirements, including frontline due diligence and TRIFR.
- Ability to work an 8:6 FIFO roster in a remote mine site environment, with extreme heat and full PPE.
Role Type
Description
Location: Pilbara mine site, WA – FIFO on an 8:6 roster
Work type: Full time, permanent
Start: ASAP
About the project
Bennco Group is delivering a new recreation and wellness facility, with associated external works, at an accommodation village for a Tier-1 Mining Operator in the Pilbara. The scope covers civil, structural, building envelope, services and fit-out works.
The project is well into construction, with the main building, services and fit-out phases still ahead and handover planned for 2027.
About the role
We’re looking for an experienced, hands-on Construction Manager to lead site construction through to Practical Completion and handover. Reporting to the Project Manager, you’ll own site safety, program delivery, quality and site cost performance.
You’ll lead the site team, including Site Supervisors, an HSE Advisor and a Site Administrator, along with the subcontractors and crews on site. Once this project is complete, there will be opportunities to move onto other projects in our Capital Projects pipeline.
What you’ll do
- Site safety: hold frontline due diligence for the site. Keep SWMS/JSEAs current, make sure hazards are identified and controls verified before work starts, keep inspections on schedule, and make sure incidents are investigated and closed out. You’ll own site TRIFR, emergency response arrangements and Fitness for Work compliance.
- Construction delivery: plan, sequence and coordinate the works to program. Run prestarts and lookahead planning, and drive productivity across civil, structural steel, building envelope, services and fit-out trades.
- Subcontractors: engage pre-qualified subcontractors, coordinate trade interfaces, and manage their safety, quality and performance on site.
- Quality & heritage: authorise ITP hold points, raise NCRs for non-conforming work and close out defects before handover. Confirm heritage clearance before any ground disturbance.
- Cost control: manage site costs against budget, and keep site records, timesheets and cost and WIP data accurate so reporting can be trusted.
- Client: be the day-to-day site contact for the client’s site representatives, and provide site input to the weekly project meetings.
- Team leadership: lead your supervisors through a Management Operating System (MOS): clear roles, a weekly team meeting and structured 1:1s. Keep VOCs and tickets current, and support injury management and return to work.
- Reporting: send a weekly site report with leading indicators to the Project Manager, and escalate issues early with a proposed solution.
What you’ll bring
- A trade qualification and/or a Diploma or Degree in building and construction (a Construction Management degree is highly regarded)
- 7+ years’ construction experience, including 3+ years managing sites and supervisors, ideally on commercial building, accommodation village or non-process infrastructure projects
- Experience on resources sector sites, ideally for Tier-1 mining clients in the Pilbara (highly regarded)
- WA Builder’s registration (highly regarded)
- Strong working knowledge of WA WHS legislation and mine site safety requirements
- Hands-on planning and sequencing skills, and experience coordinating multiple trades
- A solid grasp of quality systems: ITPs, hold points, NCRs and Australian Standards
- A clear, firm and fair leadership style, and the organisation to keep a busy site on track
You’ll also need
- Construction Induction (White Card) and a current WA driver’s licence
- The ability to pass a pre-employment medical, drug and alcohol screening and a National Police Clearance
- Full Australian working rights
- Willingness to work an 8:6 FIFO roster in a remote mine site environment, including extreme heat and full PPE
What’s in it for you
- Competitive base salary plus superannuation
- The chance to lead site construction for a Tier-1 Mining Operator through to handover
- A growing WA contractor with a strong pipeline of Capital Projects work
- A supportive, family-oriented team that backs its people
