About the Role
The Cultural Support Officer will provide coordination, administrative and cultural support across the Indigenous Policy and Programs and Medical Schools Accreditation teams.
Working closely with the Cultural Strategic Facilitator, accreditation staff, Indigenous assessors and education providers, you will help coordinate accreditation activities, assessment visits, workshops and meetings. You will also support culturally safe and appropriate engagement throughout these activities.
This position is essential for fostering relationships with Indigenous communities, ensuring that their voices are heard and integrated into our policies and programs. The officer will work collaboratively across departments to enhance cultural awareness and drive initiatives that support Indigenous rights and heritage.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate accreditation activities, workplans and assessment visit tasks in line with established processes and timeframes;
- Assist with logistical arrangements for accreditation visits, meetings and workshops involving education providers and expert assessment teams;
- Support culturally safe and appropriate engagement across accreditation activities and visits;
- Provide coordination and culturally appropriate support to Indigenous assessors;
- Assist with face-to-face and virtual meetings, including scheduling, documentation and note taking;
- Maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders;
- Monitor and triage shared mailboxes and coordinate routine enquiries and information requests;
- Maintain assessor lists, surveys, templates, administrative records and other accreditation documentation;
- Update accreditation systems, assessment data and online document management systems;
- Support Medical Schools Accreditation Committee activities, accreditation projects, policy updates and other business activities;
About You
You will bring strong administrative and coordination skills, a respectful and collaborative approach, and a demonstrated commitment to cultural safety. You will be comfortable working with a range of internal and external stakeholders and managing competing priorities while maintaining accuracy and confidentiality.
- Demonstrated commitment to cultural safety, professionalism and respectful communication;
- Cultural awareness and sensitivity when working with Indigenous assessors and stakeholders;
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively both in person and virtually;
- Well-developed organisational, coordination and time-management skills;
- Strong writing, editing and proofreading skills;
- Good attention to detail and the ability to produce accurate, high-quality work;
- Sound judgement and the ability to recognise when matters require specialist or cultural advice;
- Strong administrative and recordkeeping capability, including the appropriate handling of confidential information;
- Proficiency in computer systems and general IT literacy;
- Flexibility to undertake interstate travel and occasional extended hours;
- Experience in administration, coordination, stakeholder engagement or a customer-facing operational environment will be highly regarded.
