Role Purpose:

Our ATSILS Brisbane Office seeks a Paralegal/Junior Legal Practitioner – Coronial and Public Sector Monitoring Support. As one of Queensland’s largest legal practices, we offer a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact while working in a supportive and collaborative environment. This position supports and works within our Civil Law Team, concentrating on Coronial and Public-Sector Monitoring and in particular, attending to our clients in custody with their concerns and casework.

About You:

Depending on your studies, experience, qualifications, and attainment of a Practising Certificate, you will have an opportunity to prepare casework and provide assistance directly to clients – albeit under the direction and guidance of an experienced Practitioner. The development of culturally safe legal services is inherent in this role, so you will likely achieve a degree of confidence in this specialist area. Ideally suits candidates with strong organisational, administrative and support skills. Newly or nearly admitted candidates must be aware that considerable paralegal duties using information technology and in-person service forms the bulk of this role. Must be the holder (or be eligible for immediate application) of a current Queensland Government Blue Card prior to commencing work.

Key Responsibilities:

In this role, you will engage directly with clients daily, providing high-quality support services to our Civil Law Team in Brisbane, but also from time to time our Townsville Coronial and Public Sector Monitoring Officer. You will undertake a wide range of duties to assist in the preparation of specialist Public Sector complaints, particularly for clients in custody or detention and, as qualified, provide expert legal advice in Coronial and Public Sector Complaints, justice projects and other matters, potentially attending to parole supports. You will have the autonomy to manage your own workflows without the pressure of billable hours, allowing for a healthy work-life balance. Enjoy flexible working hours and a family-friendly atmosphere, along with generous salary packaging options exclusive to public beneficiary organisations, plus superannuation and additional benefits. We also provide access to free Continuing Professional Development (CPD) facilities and a comprehensive Workforce Development Strategy.

ATSILS wishes you every success in this fast-paced recruitment.

We will interview promptly and look to candidates who can commence ASAP due to an internal promotion.
